don't know if the antenna finders work or not while out of network but worth a shot if it's free.

Knowing which direction the towers are ... can be a good thing for everyone wanting to watch over the air no matter the type of antenna.
If there is a big hill or building in the way. you might just move location if possible or you at least know why your getting lousy reception.

Never tried but can you watch over the air on a class A or C while driving ?

This what we use. We get plenty of local channels, although we really don't watch alot of TV.
Collapsible pole attached to bumper. When not in use, the pole (with antenna still attached) lays on one of the bunk beds.
Easy up, easy down.

Oh...and I use TVFool.com prior to arriving at my destination so I have a general idea of which way to point the antenna.

VHF? UHF?

Seems like you are right for the Dayton/Cincy area. There are just a few on VHF--but you cannot tell by the channel number any more.

After the migration period and transition period, the FCC rejuggled channel assignments again, in 2020. The broadcasters had put a large investment in branding and didn't want to change numbers again. So they invented the notion of "Virtual Channel Number", an arbitrary number (usually the previous one), that had no relation to the actual frequency band. The Virtual Channel appeared in the scan, and could be entered with the remote, but led to things like:
WHIO, Channel 7, is actually UHF.
WDTN, Channel 2, is actually UHF.
WKRC, Channel 12, is VHF.
WRCX, Channel 40, is VHF.

Twenty-five years ago the broadcasters were the big three and PBS. The large number of OTA broadcasters now--at least 21 in the Dayton/Cincy area--explains why there are so many UHF station assignments. The small number of VHF channels and their longer range explains why UHF assignments must be made. The FCC considers range, proximity to other broadcasters, co-channel interference, and cross-channel interference in making assignments.

CONFESSION: I was an early adopter of ATSC (digital) TV, in 2000, receiving WRAL (Raleigh, NC), the first digital station on the air, using a PCI card receiver in a PC with a 19" CRT monitor. I survived the initial dual transmission era, when all the digital was UHF. When my wife died, in 2005, I stopped watching live TV and haven't gone back.

I stopped paying for cable in the house years ago...
over the air home antenna will do me

can watch them anywhere I get interwebs on my Ipad

Ipad connects to hearing aids .... so I can ignore the Mrs
whoops I mean ... I can't hear the Mrs

TV can use phone's hotspot
Now the Samsung smart TV's have their version of FREE Internet channels .
channel 1126 ... Crime 360 still haven't seen a sure way to get away with IT.

so rarely now watch over the air

and if NO internet ...
count stars in the brilliant desert night air or go fishing somewhere.

antenna

I have had this type of flat thin plastic antenna (FLATWAVE NON-AMPLIFIED INDOOR HDTV ANTENNA) for many years and it will usually pick up some channels through a window (directional). If no signal than I clamp it to an adjustable aluminum pole face it to the xmitter. Connect to the outside cable connection. This is for a one or two night stay.

That looks like it would be a decent setup.

Do you have the links to the antenna and pole?

DTV Antennas app shows which way to point antenna gives mileage: Get app works off 5G. Tv Listings gives current OTA channel programing. Using local stations let’s me monitor for bad weather.

Probably don’t get anything in a remote area without a booster. We do have our Internet TV but I’d like to watch local channels where we’re at, or Tv cable needs repaired. I was wanting to try this digital antenna while we’re away sometime and was wondering if anybody else has already done this. I’m not talking about a digital antenna on the roof , just connecting it directly to the TV and having it inside the RV with you, also, I thought I have some flat type cable that lets you put part of it through a window I use for my cell booster antenna and could put the digital antenna outside also.
We bought a Winegard FL-55 antenna, connected it directly to the TV, put the antenna in the window and had great success. We never use the digital antenna on the roof of our 306ML6 anymore. Less pixilation and more channels.

No, I don't have the links. I've had the set up for a long time, don't really remember where I bought it from.
You can Google it and see where you can buy it for the cheapest.

Antennas direct clearstream 2max indoor/outdoor hdtv antenna

The pole I probably bought from HD or HF.
20ft collapsible flag pole.

I mounted it to the bumper using u bolts and the piece of pvc that comes with the flag pole.

We use this antenna on our house and it works great. It picks up twice as many channels as other antennas we have tried.

The flag pole that Harbor Freight sells, seems to have much better reviews the the ones at Amazon. They look very similar, but there seems to be some small differences.
Of course, all of them state, not to use in high winds. That's kind of a "give me" there. LOL

I have a 5-way modem/router antenna on a shelf in my 5-th wheel and it works quite well pulling in cell signals. VHF TV should be even better as that works in a lower frequency range, which penetrates better than cell signals. UHF is less penetrative so I would expect less performance with those stations.

If I'm not sure of the cell service where I'm going, I'll check antennaweb.org before leaving good cell signal area and write down the direction of the Tv towers most important to me (ie; ABC, CBS, NBC etc.) and use a compass once I get there to "aim" the winegard batwing roof antenna. In your case, the same app will give the info. so you know which side window of the RV to put the flat antenna in.
