Forest River not handling Furrion fridge issues well
So I have a 2 month old Cherokee Wolf Pack toy hauler I have used on 2 weekend trips. First trip my water tank was not installed correctly and a hole was rubbed into the tank and the tank had to be replaced. Now I have been bit by the Furrion 12 volt fridge issue. Fridge just up and died, they want to replace it with a Everchill MRF-314W refrigerator. Searching google I cannot find any information at all about that fridge. I had requested to replace the 12 volt fridge with the tried and true gas absorption style fridge such as a Norcold NA10LX. I even offered to pay the difference in price. The response I received was:
The dealer placed the order yesterday. Unfortunately we can only replace the parts in your camper with what it came with except on occasions like this. There was an engineer change.
I am not sure how long it will take to get the fridge. I think it will at least be 2 weeks.
If you order and put in a different fridge it could void your warranty.
This what they ordered - Refrigerator, MRF-314W RH Everchill
Again I can find nothing about this fridge, my fear is that it is another poor quality 12 volt fridge. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am about ready to take the trailer back to the dealer and tell them they can have it.

I've seen way less complaints about the Everchill vs the Furrion.
Have you done a search here, on the Everchill?

ETRAILER has one for sale for $1,361.77 and a used one for $1,287.15. There are three reviews and some interesting Q/A's.

The Everchill hasn't seemingly had the "just up and quits" issues of the other brands that have recently been discussed here. In fact, as I recall, the main complaint was early models had no true "OFF" setting. Later models seem to have an off on the rotary temperature dial.

MRF314W
My biggest concern is I cannot find that model number anywhere, if for no other reason than to confirm if it is a 12 volt or a 110 / LP.

My dealer is in process of ordering a replacement for my Furrion. I haven't heard if I will be getting an Everchill. From research I've done trying to find a fix for my 3 month old Furrion, I've seen good reports on the Everchill. According to the above post/link they only draw 2.5 amps, my Furrion draws 11 amps and kills my battery in 9 hours or less. Im thinking-Hope for an Everchill !

They also say in there Q/A section that its 11A. Etrailer is notorious for putting up incorrect stuff so it doesn't surprise me.
Who knows where they get the smaller number. Could be an average Amp draw per hour at a certain outside temperature once the fridge is at its operating temp.
EDIT:here is another number

I realize that Furrion issues are rampant here compared to Everchill, but is that due to quality control or just more Furrion units in RVs, and thus more issues? I don't expect anyone to have an answer; just something to ponder.

Reading what I am reading here and other places, I will probably not be buying a Furrion anytime soon.

I still wonder if the Furrion, Everchill, and Magic Chef branded 12 volt refrigerators all come from the same factory.

Don't know if this might be of help: It seems I can vaguely remember a residential fridge where tilting or jarring the unit too much during installation caused the compressor to partially fall off one of the spring damper perches. It knocked because the sealed compressor bumped a perch leg when it wobbled more when it worked hard. Back then the back bottom was open so one could see it more easily and reset it. Sigh, the good old days .

You cannot go from a 12v fridge to a gas fridge because the camper is not ventted properly for a gas unit. A roof vent would have to be installed a side vent would also need to be installed. Plus other changes may need to be done. Stick with the 12v refrigerator.
I think you would cause more problems than it is worth trying to do that. Now going from gas fridge to residential or 12v is a whole lot easier.

On another thread someone said they had the everchill and didn’t have the problems of the Furrion fridge.

I have an Ever Chill WD-282FWDC and so far so good, new this season. My main issue is that is sucks up battery power like crazy, not even practical to use on battery except for a short time. I do like how quickly it cools down. If I had to do it again I would get a 3 way fridge, even though it's smaller and slow to chill.

Some of the Furrion problems might be due to them getting counterfeit compressors, a possibility that seems implied on this site:
https://www.danfoss.com/en/products/...d-counterfeits
Multispeed compressors from both Danfoss and apparent cheaper knock-offs are available on eBay:

You may not have a choice as it seems this is the way Forest River is going with their brands. We didn’t have a choice when we bought our Wolf Pup.

Dsimes, I don't know.
It may only open the possibility that it could happen, perhaps unknowingly to Furrion from one of their component vendors. Only an investigation of component failures can settle such a question. From my own brief experience, I think most Furrion products are ok, perhaps quite good.
Furthermore, I think Forest River genuinely tries to buy quality, trouble-free appliances at reasonable cost. I once worked as a parts Expeditor in a factory, so I have some idea of the minute-by-minute struggle of manufacturing management to keep on top of everything.
Danfoss, which apparently has a sterling reputation, gives us this informative link:
https://www.danfoss.com/en/about-dan...-counterfeits/
What do you think?
