FR DBH 23 Refer only works when A/C pluged in.

I have a 23 DBH FR travel trailer with a Norcold N611v and/or a NV 811v. (the manual lists both).

The refer stopped working except when I connect the trailer to an A/C outlet at my house or the RV park. The pilot is lit but the light on the refer door stays amber.

The propane tank is full. Could the problem be the thermister?

I would rather fix the refer myself to save $ if I can.

Any suggestions?

On your unit if the light on the indicator panel is green the frig is operating on 110V power if the indicator is Amber it is operating on propane. So it appears to be operating normally.

Sea Dog Refer

Thank you so much for that reply. I thought that the amber light meant it wasn't on! But.....the refer is not getting cold with the amber light on. The pilot is lit, I can see the flame.

If you’re new to using it, this may help.
Is this the first time using your fridge?
Do you not have any documentation?

Hope this helps.

i takes 4 to 6 hours to start getting cold , "freezer first" put your fingers on back of freezer at that time .cold air goes down to fridge. there is a slide bar on the fins move up or down for colder fridge.

What year is your rig? Is it still under warranty?

Is your battery connected or 12volt system working? I don't have your RV but my refrig on my uses the 12volt for control board. Just my 2 cents.

Your refer has no pilot flame. It ignites the gas by a spark. If you see flame it is operating normal. If the gas fails to ignite you will get a solid red light on. The only difference between running on electric or gas is how it heats the solution. If the thermistor was bad it would not cool on electric or gas.
Does the unit actually warm up inside when on gas after cooling down on electric or just never get cool when on gas? It does take hours before it will cool down on either. I usually put a bottle of water or something similar in the freezer and check if it is cold after a few hours. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Read on page 19 under Burner in the manual linked by Kenandterry.

Thanks everybody for all of those helpful comments. My 2016 23 DBH is not under warranty. I'm going back to 'squae one'. Maybe I didn't let it run long enough to see if it would get cold when running on 12 v battery power. I know it gets gold fast when connected to A/C power.
