Fridge fan

Looking to add fan to fridge to increase airflow. Any suggestions?

My mother just put one in hers and it really dropped the temps. We may add one to ours. She is in the desert Southwest and had a problem keeping the temp inside below 50...now its just under 40 so...it works.

i think she bought this one off of ebay but not saying other designs are or are not better. I have looked at a bunch and they are all pretty similar. i jst like this one as it was fused and has a switch. Dometic Refrigerator Deluxe Fan to Increase Cooling Inside with Metal Grill | eBay

You are talking about the fan for inside the fridge correct.

There is a kit to add one to the outside to increase airflow...some I have seen go up top by the heat exchanger and some go down below by the compressor and stuff.

Realize you did not specify so just assumed it was for inside

Great Fan. I have been meaning to get that set up going. I have done the external fan mod to get heat out from the back of the fridge.

I installed two 120 mm fans to replace the single 80 mm fan that cools the upper coils of our frige [outside] They made a huge difference in how fast it pulls down initially and doesn't make but a fraction of the whine the OEM 80 mm did.
Tried the inside fan, but doesn't do any good if you have a "loaded" refrigerator. Anything between the little fan and the fins, blocks the flow of air.
I have a drip pan just below the fins of my frige that will not allow an upward flow of air.

I built my own. I took a fan out of an old computer power supply. I ran the wire through the same hole as temp sensor. I connected a standard automotive 12V SPST relay from Radio Shack to the light circuit. The relay switches direct 12V power to the fan as soon as you power on the fridge. I mounted the fan to the cooling fins using mini wire ties and press-on U clips I found at Ace and then I covered the fan with aluminum screen to keep fingers out. Let me know if this interests you and I'll get some pics and wiring diagrams. I spent about $10 and 2 hours of time.

I purchased this fan and did NOT notice any difference I temperature!

I replaced the fridge bulb with a FFF LED replacement. Nicer light and compensates for the additional current the fan draws.

Purchased and installed (2) Corsair 140mm quiet fans and a hand/off/auto (HOA) switch. I removed the existing fan and installed the switch on the 12volt supply. Also I wired in the existing thermal switch to the "auto" side of the switch and a direct wire for the "hand" side of the switch.

The fans are much quieter than the existing and move more air. I haven't had time to check the cool down timeframe but the freezer was noticeably cold in less than 30 minutes. I will post a more thorough follow up when I get a chance to test it.

Fans work great if positioned just above the burner and blow across the entire back of the refrigerator.

Ok good to know. I left enough slack in the wiring to play with the position. I've installed the replacement fans in the general vicinity of the existing fan location but I'm not sure it was installed in the best location.
