Furnace not Working

Hi All. I own a 2017 Forest River Viking and I just tried to turn on my furnace for the first time. The propone is turned on, I checked the stove and the propane itself is working, I moved the thermostat gauge on towards warmer, the battery is working, the electricity is working. When I turned it on, the furnace made sounds like it appeared to be working and when I went back into the camper about 20 minutes later, the furnace was not working and it was still freezing in the camper. I turned the thermostat to off then back on a few more times to no avail. Does anyone know what the problem may be and how I can get my furnace to work? Thank you very much in advance for your help.

What brand furnace do you have?

When you say it appeared to be working, did the blower come on and run a while and then shut off?

Which thermostat do you have? Is it just for the furnace or for the furnace and A/C?

A Forest River Viking could be anything from a pop-up to a hard side so you'll need to give us more specifics. Also include the furnace make/model.

Has the furnace ever worked in the past?

My guess, and thats all it is, high temp switch is faulting. Do you have access to a volt meter and familiar with how to use it? Think your going to need one before this is all over.

I heard clicking sounds (like the pilot was trying to light) but really nothing more than that. I just tried it again now and nothing at all now. The thermostat is just for the furnace only and it's on the wall.

Sorry about that. It's a Forest River Viking BH17 Travel Trailer. The furnace is a Suburban Model NT-16SEQ/NT-20SEQ. This is the first time that I have ever tried to use the furnace since I bought the trailer in 2017 (I only have camped in warm weather).

I'm not familiar with a Volt Meter. I haven't taken off the front grill of the furnace to look at it either yet. I guess I could do that to see what it looks like in there and maybe there is something manual I could do?

I had a similar problem with a water heater. Critters got into the burner area. Fixed it with compressed air blowing into the burner area. Might be worth a try.

Once it faults you need to remove power to get it to reset. Sometimes moving the thermostat to the lowest temp will do it, but depending on the ambient temp it may not open the contacts.

If you heard the igniter clicking then the blower was running and it passed the sail switch limit. You may need to let it try to light several times before it actually fires off.

Also you mentioned that you've not used it before, so don't let the odors you smell when it does light scare you. And the smoke detector will likely go off. After it runs a while things will clear out.

Vikingpick, what was the solution? We are having a similar issue. We are using our furnace for the first time and it worked fine before we left for our trip and our first night when we stopped we turned it on to get the cabin nice and warm. It was pretty toasty set to 71 so I set it at 69 right before we went to bed. Iím not sure if it ever came back on. By 4am my husband was awake and freezing and it wouldnít come back on. It clicks as if it is about to, but then nothing. We are traveling across country now and not sure what to do besides by some space heaters.
