Furnace question

Hi all, I recently purchase a 2005 Shamrock Hybrid TT. I am set to take it on it's first trip. That being said The over night temps will be in the hi 30's.

I have pluggd in the TT to test the heat and can not get warm air to blow from the furnace.

Is the Furnace Electric or does it requir propane? If propane is required do I need to light a pilot light somewhere or does it automatically ignite some how?

Thanks in advance for any help provided

The furnace uses propane to heat and 12V to operate controls and fan. The first time you use the furnace, it may be hard to light. After turning on the propane light the stove and let it run for a minute or two. Next try to start the furnace. It may take two to three tries early on. It will go into a safe mode if it does not light after a few tries. You need to shut off ( not just turn down thermostat) and it will reset. If you have not run the furnace at all yet, I suggest you turn it on an let it run for 20 -30 minutes with the windows open to burn off the oil used during manufacturing.

Is it blowing cold air or not blowing air at all ?

I don't think you need to worry about burning off any oil used during manufacture unless the furnace has never ran in the 11 years since it was new.

Ok, follow Flybob's instructions about about turning the stove on and so forth, this will help purge the propane lines of air. You will also need a fully charged battery to hopefully keep the furnace running throughout the night.

Another thing you should do before you go on your maiden voyage is purchase a battery operated CO (carbon monoxide) detector if you are going to run your furnace.

Good to hear that you got it working.

Be sure to get yourself a CO detector.

Esing, since you are new to hybrids, you might want to check out the Roo/Shamrock sub-forum, in the Hybrids/Expandables section here.

You'll get lots of info and help learning about hybrid TTs and their unique features.

How long will you be camping (boonocking) and how are you going to recharge your battery? One night of running the furnace will most likely drain your battery.

Be sure to read up on how the propane system works including filling the tank and the 80% limit, the bleeder valve and the overpressurization valve.
