Gas detector

The gas detector in my 2015 R-Pod178 has gone off a few times in the middle of the night. When resetting it keeps going off. I once took it to a dealer, had him check for leaks. After doing a gas pressure test they said it was probably wind blowing fumes into the trailer. The last time it went off I cut the wires and removed it. Looking for suggestions.

chances are it is a LP gas /CO detector. Dust and humidity will set them off. Did you have heat on when it went off in the middle of the night?

Most often when it goes off is because battery is low, especially if you are on battery alone. See threads below....

Check the date on the label on the back. The detectors are usually only good for 5 yrs. Manufactures buy them in volume for discounts so yours may have been on a shelf for a year before it was put in your unit. Good chance the detector is failing due to age.

DO NOT use your RV without a CO and Combustible gas detector. They "age out", just like tires.

The number of unnecessary deaths from those two hazards over the years is phenomenal.

Dust and humidity will set off smoke detectors but should not affect flammable gas/CO detectors. If your propane system is not leaking it could be a CO problem instead (very dangerous). Replace your detector with a new unit. Or, to test the theory, buy a cheap battery powered CO detector and place it where the "defective" unit was. If the new detector goes off you have a dangerous problem that needs to be addressed. Don't sleep in the unit without at least a CO detector.

I would never suggest cutting off or removing a safety device.
