Geopro FBS19 TV questions

I can’t get our TV to find any over the air channels, or cable channels.

The coax connector on the TV has a purple cable that goes into the back panel.

There is a coax connection without a cable on the plate that the power connection comes from. This plate has a switch that toggles a green light on and off.

There is another coax connection without a cable that says satellite connection from receiver.

The dealer told me that when the green light is off the TV should be expecting a cable signal and when the green light is on the TV should be expecting an over the air signal.

The TV can’t find any channels when I turn the green light off and search for cable channels, and it can’t find any channels with the green light on and I search for air channels.

None of the documents that we received from the dealer explain how to find channels on the TV,

If someone can explain how this should work, I will really appreciate it.

What year is your rig? Is it under warranty?

The way your dealer describes how that switch works sounds correct.

I'm a bit confused. You've gone into the tv menu settings and scanned for tv channels when using over-the-air antenna or digital channels when connected to cable? Have you checked the cable on the tv to see if it's connected?

So far what you have stated is normal connections. The wall plate unit has an internal splitter with 2 outputs to TVs. The purple coax connected to the TV should be connected to the TV output on the back of the wall plate. The connection on the front of the wall plate is the other output of the internal splitter. If you have only 1 TV it is common for the manufacturer to run the purple coax though a wall to the back of the wall plate instead of connecting it to the fitting on the outside of the wall plate.

There are two inputs on the back of that wall plate. One input is from the antenna on the roof of the RV. When the green light is on, there should be 12 volts DC applied to the coax going up to the antenna to power the antenna booster and the antenna should be connected to the internal splitter outputs to the TV(s). The other input on the back of that wall plate should go to a connection on the outside of the trailer for cable TV input. When the green light is off, the cable TV input should be connected to the internal splitter outputs to the TV(s).

The satellite connection should have a coax cable connected to it that runs directly to a connection on the outside of the RV with no splitters or anything else...just a single coax cable. That is for connection of a satellite receiver to a dish.

With that explanation, there may be several causes of your problem.

1. Simply a connection that is not screwed on tight. Make sure the connection on the back of the TV is screwed on tight. Remove the two screws holding the wall plate onto the wall and gently pull it out. Check that all the connectors are screwed on tightly onto the back of the wall plate.

2. It is fairly common for them to put a nail or staple through one of the coax cables when building the RV causing a short.

3. It is fairly common for them to have the cable fittings screwed onto the wrong connections - such as the coax from the antenna connected to one of the TV outputs on the wall plate.

4. The coax in the antenna on the roof is not connected, connected to the wrong port on the antenna, or is not tight.

5. An improperly installed fitting on the coax cable. Either a shield wire is wrapped around the center conductor causing a short, or the center conductor "stinger" is too short and not connecting to the center of the fitting it is screwed onto.

The final question is - are there actual over-the-air TV channels broadcasting that you can receive where the RV is parked?

It's not clear from your post. After you have connected the cable and set the switch, have you actually used the TV's remote to go through the menus to scan for channels. The TV will try each channel for a few seconds and retain those that have a signal.

Thanks for the responses

It appears that the connections are correct. After following the instructions in your replies the TV will not discover cable, or air channels.

I’ll ask the dealer to sort it out.
