Then if the heat strip can not keep up the thermostat will turn on the gas furnace.
My problem is that the gas furnace will not turn on no matter what the difference is in the set point and actual temp for that zone. Zone 1 works as it should and will always turn on the gas furnace.
Should zone 2 turn the furnace on when the temprature difference is more than a degree or so off? When I set zone two to gas heat only the furnace still doesn't come on, is that normal?

On my Columbus, it all depends on how the dip switched up in the AC units are set, this is what assigns what zone you are using. Mine is set up Front Bedroom is zone 1 and the living area is zone 2. One thing, mie will not run the furnace and heat strip at the same time, to use my heatstrip, my thermostat needs to be set to HS mode to operate it. If it is acting flakey, do a reset of the thermostat. As for your furnace, only 1 of the zones will turn it on, it all depends on the dip switch settings in the AC units.
