I might need a new thermostat?

Hello everyone, I think this is my first post here at Forest River Forums. I think I need a new thermostat. The air conditioner has started acting funny. It's not kicking on or off when it should, so it either gets kinda hot or kinda cold in the trailer. Sometimes it gets really cold when it doesn't shut off at the set temperature and has been running for a long while. When it finally does shut itself off, it tries to kick itself back on 30 seconds or so later, which then throws the breaker. More info :
Duo- Therm Quick Cool [model# 59516-531, prod#991731786] on the roof
I know very little about the furnace. It worked last winter and uses propane.
Here are pictures of thermostat:

Will a new thermostat fix my problem?
What thermostat should I buy? (I would like a digital one)
Thanx in advance, Otis.

Sorry about the IMG size Ford Idaho, what's wrong with it?
BillyBass, I think the breaker is doing it's job. Isn't there supposed to be a minimum amount of time, say 5 minutes, before the air conditioner kicks back on?

OK! Great!. I like the price on that Hunter thermostat and I'm gonna give it a try. I kinda had my mind on that already and was looking for a 2nd opinion and a little encouragement. Thanks again!

throw away that crap thermostat and install a digital one, like the Hunter.
i got a Honeywell one on clearance and took me about 15 minutes to install it.

no high/low switch for the a/c, but i just wired it into high. some add a toggle switch to be able to switch the speeds.

mine would drift so i replaced it with a hunter from walmart. cost was ~$25. i've read that u can replace it with any that has battery backup.
i'll see if i can find the wiring diagram for it. i can remember that Rh and Rc are connected to common. there is a 7.5v line that isn't used.
we were on the road half the summer and had no problems with the replacement.
the other thing is that the hi and low fan both connect to the fan terminal. u loose the ability to switch from high to low fan...it stays on hi. i didn't use the low speed anyway. u can solve that with an external switch.

I just thought about what I went thru with no power to my outlets and I found a loose wire.

I installed the new thermostat with no problems and it works like a champ! I went with the programmable Honeywell instead of the Hunter because that's all my local Walmart had in stock. I also spent the extra money on the programmable Honeywell because I'm bad about leaving for work and forgetting to turn the thermostat up. My trailer stays nice and comfortable all the time now. I want to give a big thanks to everyone here. The information contained in these forums is worth it's weight in gold. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
