Insignia Television direct 12VDC wire-in?

I was in my local Best Buy looking at televisions for my new to me Roo. I saw the Insignia 19" on sale for $100 and that it had a separate power supply and the input was 12VDC. What do you guys think about directly wiring it into the 12V system in my trailer vs using the power supply.

I'd say as long as u fuse it there'll be no issues.

Also, make sure the 12v is DC and not AC.

Yes 12VDC and I will fuse it. I will have to head to Radio Shack for the proper connector.

Did the TV work? I was looking to purchase one of the same models. If it worked what is the proper connector you got from radio shack?

Yes it did. I brought the TV and power adapter to Radio Shack to get a wire with the right end. They have samples of all the ends behind the desk. The end was free with purchase of a wire. I wired it into my booster, which was fused at 15 amps in the fuse panel/converter. The TV draws 3 amps and I figure the booster can't be drawing more than an amp.

Old thread, but glad to see it was here, just got one of these (Insignia153 NS-19E310N) at Best Buy for 79.99. Does anyone know the size for the DC connector? Going to probably make a cable that's 12 (Cig) Outlet one end and the connector at the other (unless there's cheap premade)..

This TV will be used as a kids room TV when out of the RV.

I brought the TV and brick to Radio Shack. Easiest way to match it up. They have a ring of all connectors.

Hello

I was wondering if this is still working. I want to also to this mod. but I am concerned if the TV can handle the variable voltage from the batteries for the long term. Thanks for the feedback.

No issues for nearly 2 years. Next year, I am getting a certain bluray that has a 12v input. Forgot the brand, but will post it here.

I also did the install yesterday. I was lucky enough to have a 12 volt wire that worked at home and I ran it along with the 120 volt plug. I will just swap the plug on the TV when I have 120v or 12v.

As you can see, 12V input.
