Installing Furrion Air Conditioner
In regards to my other thread on our Dometic Brisk Air II not cooling properly and icing up/raining into the unit, I was able to consult with a friendly AC guy who thinks I have a leak somewhere and have lost gas. He advised that although he might be willing to tackle installing a valve and re-filling it, it wasn't worth what he'd have to charge me to do the job and no guarantees. We're talking $500 to 600 to come to my location, climb on the roof and look at it, but I'd have to dismantle the unit and get it off the roof for him to do the work. A new unit was $1400 on sale with full warrantee. So....
New Furrion Chill 13.5K arrives this afternoon and planning on installing in the morning. I plan on using my existing Dometic ADB and CT thermostat. I have confirmed with Furrion tech support that the thermostat is plug and play but that possibly a conversion kit might be needed to align the mounting bolts with my existing ADB, but they couldn't say for sure.
Has anyone done the same replacement for a Brisk Air II and can confirm if needed or not?
Also, the OCD part of me wants to glob on some Dicor sealant along with the new gasket that comes with the unit, but common sense tells me it doesn't need it and causes more problems if the unit ever has to be changed again?
