Inverter is not powering my fridge

Hi
I have a 2018 Cherokee Arctic wolf fifth wheel. When hooked to my truck and with the inverter on and running my residential LG refrigerator does not run. It does when hooked to shore power but not my truck. (2021 GMC 2500 with 5th wheel prep) is there a switch or fuse I should be looking for? The inverter is on and reading 110+ volts. Please help.

The inverter in my R-Pod has a switch that has to be turned on for it to work. Most inverters are automatically bypassed when on shore power. I'm not familiar with your model but I'd expect it to have an inverter switch as well. If you are sure the inverter is on I'd look at the inverters output fuse / circuit breaker next.

Can you post make and model number of the inverter? Some have internal bypass relays, others use an external small transfer switch. Also some inverters have the various power cables hardwired, others output their inverted power via a gfci receptacle built into the inverter. If your inverter outputs it’s inverted power via a gfci receptacle check to see if it has tripped.

Plugging into the tow vehicle is probably not a factor. The inverter should provide inverted power just from the batteries.

Since you fridge works on shore power I’m sure the circuit breaker for the fridge is not tripped. The shore power goes to your main breaker panel and then thru the breaker to the inverter. If the inverter is on or off (typically a push button on the front of the inverter or a remote on/off. Switch your light panel) the shore power passes thru to the fridge.

If the inverter is “on” and it senses shore power the inverter is in standby mode and just passes shore power to fridge. If the inverter is “on” and you disconnect shore power e the inverter switches to active mode and it generates 120 volts from your batteries and sends it to fridge.

Make sure your inverter is turned on..

Don’t know what inverter you have but I’ve attached what mine looks like.

Th first pic is the inverter indicating it sees shore (green led) but nothing on (blank display)

The 2nd pic is inverter is on and on shore power (green led and shore power voltage on display

3rd pic no shore power and nverer on supplying fridge power (orange led plus inverter generated voltage on display.

That must be on shore power? Mine shows a battery instead of sine wave when off shore power.

That red button is the on/off switch..

That’s right, but not operating your fridge? Check the fuse on the back..

Inverter not powering refrigerator

Might want to first check to see if you have power at the inverter on the 110 side. If no power on the 110 side then the inverter has a problem. If you have power at the inverter check the plug where the fridge is plugged into. If no power at outlet they may have not wired that outlet to run off the inverter. It wouldn't be the first time that trailer factory missed something.

i read through the posts again and i may be missing something. the fact that the refrigerator works when on shore power seems to imply that fuses and inverter gfci are ok. but why do you state it does not work when plugged into your truck? the inverter should get its 12 volt power from the batteries, not the truck. do you have batteries installed and are they fully charged? if you are just plugging the truck in without house batteries there may not be enough 12 volt power going to the inverter.

I think the fuse on the inverter protects the inverter AC oitput not the shore power pass thru. The shore power to the inverter is protected by a breaker in the panel. I could be wrong but worth a check...
