IRV control panel not functioning right

Hey all, had a problem last night while watching tv. All the sudden I hear a beep and the living room lights went off. So I went to the IRV t35 control panel and it had turned itself off. So I turned it back on and let it reboot while it showed all of my tank sensor readings. I turned the lights back on and within 5 minutes it did the same thing again. Only this time it was cycling on and off a few times like it was trying to reboot and cycle itself on but would never stay on. It would only leave the power light indicator on like it had power to the unit but when I tried pushing the power button to turn the unit on nothing happens. So I push the reset button on the unit and it cycled the reset and turned back on but now non of my buttons work at all for any of the lights, awning, water pump,etc.... Crazy thing is I can Bluetooth My phone through the IRV app and connect to it and control everything fine through the app. Just non of the touch buttons on the unit even register me pushing them. Anyone else have this controller unit on their RV that’s had similar problems?!

Did you ever find out what was going on? Mine has died. I can connect via Bluetooth but can control anything. I can’t find any information on this control panel except some 2 page user manual that tells what it it.

I wasn’t able to find anything online dealing with the control panel either other than the same basic user manual. After days of searching and calling around I finally was able to find an email shared in one of the forums here on this website and a guy had similar problems and was able to contact the company who makes these control units. It took a day or so but I finally heard back from them and they said the unit sounded like it was faulty, so they ended up having to ship me a new on. The new control panel fixed my problem. Here is the guys email arzadonn@patrickind.com. Hope they can help you out!

IRV control panel not functioning right

Sketcher, thanks for the reply. After hours of searching last night, I found that contact and did email him. I wanted to remove the unit from the cabinet to verify that a wire didn’t work it’s way out. Do you remember how it is held in the cabinet?

This is a little frustrating considering we’ve had the camper for ~5 weeks and already this control panel is out. Luckily it is set up in my back yard. What would we do if we were at a camp ground? With 4 of the 5 slides being hydraulic, is there a way to manually put those slides back in? I guess this has made me a little gun shy about taking the camper out.

Hey Red Cross, to remove the panel mine had 4 screws behind the upper and lower strips on the face of the panel as shown with arrows pointing in the attached picture. The strips are held into place magnetically. All you have to do is work your fingernails behind the outer edges and gently pull the strips off. I’m sure you’ve already tried but have you tried using a clothes pin and pressing the reset button? It helped me a few times during my mishap to be able to use the functions of the panel temporarily.

Currently living the camper life I’ve only had our camper for a year now and of course it would happen right as the warranty elapsed, so I definitely feel your frustration.

As far as the slides, that’s a little bit out of my knowledge without doing some research on them. I’m not sure if they have a manual crank for them or not. And I would agree, I would be concerned taking it anywhere and worrying about having an issue.

Same here

I'm having the same problem with my Sandpiper Control Panel!

It beeps on and off a lot. The dealership said that it was a battery problem, but I took the batteries out and it worked without them in. Tested the batteries and there are no problems with the batteries.

@redcross - With the control panel not working, you can manually pull the hydraulic slides in using an allen wrench, but probably need a drill with the allen wrench attachment. There is a port on each of the solenoids that you have to open up completely. Then there is a spot at the top of my fluid reservoir that you screw (either clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on your model) for a long time (this is where the drill helps). It will pull all 4 of them in.

I've been stuck several times with that control panel going out.

Wow, sounds like this is a common problem. Good to know that I can retract the slides manually. Do you happen to remember the Allen wrench size? Also where are those valves located. I would like to research this and put the necessary tools in the camper in case they are ever needed. Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure the size and wonder if different models might be different. I have a Sandpiper 384QBOK. From what I remember, the size on the solenoid is different from the size on top of the reservoir. There was a sticker on top of the reservoir manual adjustment. It would take hours if you tried to retract them manually. With the drill at full speed it still took 5+ minutes...thousands of turns.

Lippert walked me through it and was very helpful.

Irv through Bluetooth headphones

Similar question about the Irv. Can you use Bluetooth headphones that the DVD is playing?

Thanks. We have a Sierra 384BQOK. They are basically twins. I will see if I can find the Reservoir and sizes. I keep a charged cordless drill in the camper for “Just in case” instances.

Not sure. My issue is with the TP35. It’s not the entertainment system. Mine has a Conex entertainment system.

Control panel

Had the same problem over Thanksgiving control panel acted like it was possessed and none of the functions worked set up away from home slides out. Figured out how to get main slides in with Allen wrenches and a drill with I think a 1/4 inch Allen. First you have to spin the set screw out of the hydraulic switch, they are the things sticking out of your hydraulic distribution block, little Allen screw on the back it's all the way one way need to spin it the other way. Then for manual opp of the motor there is a sticker on the motor this is where the 1/4 inch Allen goes with the drill. Mine was clockwise for retract but other models might be different. But then forest river threw in a curve ball and I couldn't figure out how to get my bed slide in and had to call a mobile mechanic, he said last slide might be electric, sure enough it is so under the bed pulled the panel and sure enough electric. I followed the wires to control panel in the under compartment unhooked them and supplied 12 volts to the 2 wires and sure enough slide came in. Hook them one way slides go in reverse it for slides out . Hope this helps someone because I was struggling to find this info when I needed it

I think it is entirely possible that forest River is not grounding properly. I just ran a dedicated ground wire to the ground block in storage compartment. Also to the block from the aluminum frame and from fuse panel 12 volt ground bar to ground bar in storage. Also redid ground connections by battery and added a ground wire from battery to frame. Stripped the paint off from under the connection and added corrosion inhibitor. From what I seen they suck at grounding

My touch pad beeps 2 times, paise, 2 beeps, on and on.
Red power led on. No other function will work.
From what I read it looks like a touch pad and relay board is needed?
Mines a 2019, kinda odd as I don’t think I used the camper 20 times…

I am also having a new problem with my iRV TP35 control panel. Last night about 5 minutes after we arrived at our camper the panel started turning itself off and on multiple times in a shirt period before staying off, acting like a circuit breaker resetting with the on/off cycling. I would them push the on button and it would stay on for less then a minute before beginning the cycling on/off then finally staying off. This occurred many time during the evening with me leaving it off at times to think about what might be happening. Before turning in I turned it on one last time and decided to leave the usual outside porch light and the interior step light on . This is interesting because the panel stayed on all through the night, about 8.5 hours. This morning I turned the 2 mentioned lights off as usual and within 10-15 minutes it started cycling again and then off. I had checked the digital voltage read out on the inverter last night and got a 124 and a 131V 2 different times, thinking I was getting voltage spikes. Anyway this morning it stayed on for sometime after I manually turned it on. We went out for a while and it was off again when we came back but I found out that the campground manager had unplugged us to check the voltage at the 30amp outlet and reported his meter read 120V. I turned the panei back on and it cycled through the same scenario all thru the evening until I thought about the 2 lights and decided to turn.on the outside porch light and the interior step light again. It has been almost 3 hours and the panel has yet to act up???? I do mot understand the connection here. I even changed my 50amp cable and 50 to 30 Amp adaptor earlier tonight which didn't stop the cycling. Only turning on the 2 lights stops it. The manager stopped by again and because I am still wondering about the campground voltage, pulled the cover and probed the outlet with his meter showing the 120V level lighting up. I want to fix thuis but have NO ideas hiw to approach any repairs. I need to understand the change that occurs with the 2 lights on. I have not tried turning one or the other off, maybe tomorrow. Any ideas?

Sounds like same problem I had, odds are the control panel is shot, but before adding a new one go through and check and re do grounds( forest river sucks at it) make sure you have a ground going directly from battery to frame. I even added ground wires directly from battery direct to the grounding block by your controller, the one in your underbelly usually behind a wood cover. These need a good ground and if it is like mine I had a higher ohm reading between that grounding block and the frame. Anyways I replaced the panel and added a direct ground to that block, removed all frame connections they had and cleaned them they were trusting a self tapping screw through the lug and had a star washer under it. This is not a good ground. Remove star washer grind paint off frame and get yourself some electrical inhibitor and replace without star washer. Do this with all, and with added grounding you should be good. I did this and have not had any 12 volt problems, it even fixed a flickering light problem I had. Sensitive electronics need good grounding

Along with this older thread, my Forest River Rockwood TP33 control panel not operating properly. It appears to be intermittent, sometimes works, other times the on/off light is on but nothing else is illuminated and it won’t reset holding it for 5 seconds.
The few times it did work, I operated the slide and it wouldn’t stop, as well as the awning one time. I had to shut off the main breaker for it to stop. Then when I engaged the breaker, the panel would not function.
The battery is good, no breakers/fuses tripped or blown. The interior lights and outlets work.
I have had no luck in contacting anyone or actually finding a replacement. If some one has information on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up calling FR Parts and got connected to Jazmine. (Depends on your model) She said they don't send to a retail customer, only to Dealers, but since my closest Dealer is 3 hours away it will get shipped to me.
$330 + shipping for me. (if anyone needs a replacement).
