iRV62 station memory

Hello. I have an iRV62 entertainment system in my Rockwood. I added a switch inline with the power supply to kill parasite loads when boondocking.

I'm puzzled about how it retains stations in memory. I was surprised that it keeps them even when I kill the power completely. However, I cannot figure out how to add or change them so they survive power loss.

I can add or change a station any time by pressing and holding the desired button. The system then shows the memory position number to indicate the station was saved. However, if I kill the power, it loses what I entered.

What's weird is that it doesn't lose all memory stations. If I press the same button after hard-cycling the power, it jumps to a station saved at some previous time, and not all buttons have something in memory. I can't figure out how to control that.

Suggestions?

Does the preset hold if you set it, then power cycle the radio using the power button on the radio? If so does it survive your complete power off cycle after doing that? I'm just wondering if the radio needs to go through one normal power off cycle to truly "set" the preset in long term memory prior to having you do the total power off cycle.

Sounds like maybe some memories are programed in the original firmware load for the device. So it looks like it had some memories cut but they really are just the original stuff in the program. Not sure there is any way to do what you want. I have an irv63 will have to see if it is the same, probably is.

If I power cycle it, there are some presets. They match local stations so they somehow got recorded by my family.

If I change one of the presets, it will record the new one over the old one and keep it as long as it's in standby. (Off but still has a power supply.) If I kill the power completely, it goes back to the older one.

They're local stations my family would choose, so not programmed in original firmware

That is very strange. I wonder if you set new stations and let the radio sit for a few days to a week that somehow it would get burned into memory well enough to stick.

I'm puzzled by it, as well. Now that I have solar panels I can leave the power on in storage (it's not covered) to test your theory.
