Hi all. I'm new here, this is my first post other than my introduction. We've had a 2010 Wildwood 32BHDS (early year model, 2009 design) for a few months now. It's a stationary install on some land up in the mountains and so far we're really enjoying it.
Last weekend, I noticed that the Dometic DM2852 fridge stopped cooling. I pulled the rear vent cover to inspect it and found yellow residue all over the burner area (just as alleged in the recall that supposedly doesn't affect that year model). Luckily I was operating on electric when it failed so it didn't catch fire.
Because it's stationary and stays hooked to power I'll probably remove the Dometic and install an electric apartment-sized fridge. The issue is, the ones that I find are the correct 24" width but are 2-8" taller than the 54" tall Dometic.
My question is, is there any reason I can't enlarge the opening by expanding upward? I know my water pump is located in the space below, but is there anything above the fridge that I need to worry about? It's about two hours away and I just realized the problem.
Below is a photo from an online listing of a similar model. The area in question is circled in red.
Thanks.
