Keep stairs out while watching DVD outside

I have a FR3. To watch DVD ignition must be on or in accessory. While watching DVDs outside with ignition on/accessory, the stairs always retract when the door is closed, very inconvenient to enter/exit RV while someone is watching movie becuase the stairs always retract when the door is closed and the ignition is on or in accessory. To watch DVDs the key must be on or in Accessory mode. But with key either on or in accessory, the stairs close when the door is closed, regardless of which position the stair on/off switch is in. The stairs stay out as desired when the ignition is off but it has to be on or in Accessory to watch a DVD. Therefore the stairs retract whenever the door is closed making it very inconvient to watch a DVD outside and people are going in and out, and having to wait for the stairs. More worried about someone thinking the stairs are out and stepping off. Any suggestions or workarounds?

The steps are functioning normally. My dash (GT378) has an aux radio switch to allow the radio to be powered via the coach battery. That is one option you might consider. The step switch (when set to on) is only to allow the steps to stay extended with the screen door closed. The ignition interlock overrides this function.

I believe you could defeat the ignition ON requirement by wiring to a constant 12 volt interconnect (install an inline fuse appropriately sized. More options are out there.

If you want to keep the ignition/DVD interlock you can cut the ignition input wire at the steps (I think it's orange) and cap and stow it. This of course will require you to always check that the steps are retracted (steps switch off) before driving off. You also could insert an ON/OFF switch inline with the ignition input to the steps.

Correction. Ignition wire is Yellow.

My FR3 has a switch below the radio to turn the radio(DVD player) on when the engine is off. Right next to the switch to feed the outside speaker.
