Magic Chef 12v refrigerator

How do you turn off the Magic chef 12 V refrigerator in my new Sunseeker without turning off the power in the whole system

Is there a refrigerator specific fuse you can pull?

I don't believe you do. If you move the control to 0, it turns the cooling off. The light will still work however. I think some people have put the fridge on an on/off switch, and I think even some manufacturers are adding on/off switches for the 12V fridges.

That rings a bell! On my WD-127FDC, i just have a knob that controls the fridge and freezer. I think the larger units have buttons.

Mine turns off after holding the on/off button for 10+ seconds however the blue light around the button continues to flash. Nothing in the manual about that.
Anyone seeing the same thing? Anyone know if that’s normal? Model WD-282FWDC

Thanks, John

After holding the power button for ten seconds (don't count, just hold the button in) the interior light will turn off and the power button will blink to signify the refrigerator is in standby mode. While the compressor and fan will not run, the "brainbox" is still active and consumes a very small amount of electricity.
One thing to always remember; the refrigerator will self-start every time the 12-volt power is disconnected and then reconnected. If the trailer is not plugged into shore power and the battery is shut off or disconnected, upon reconnection of the battery or by connecting the trailer to shore power (energizing the 12-volt converter) the refrigerator will restart on its own.
All told, the combined parasitic power consumption of everything in my 2205S is around .5 amp. Those items would include the fridge when shut down, the thermostat (yup, if the switch is on to heat or A/C, the thermostat draws power) the stereo, the CO sniffer and the Unity X1 controller for the lights, slide and awning.
If the tv antenna booster and WiFi booster are switched on, they also draw a small amount.

Thanks, great explanation of the operation of the refrigerator.

In our last Sunseeker I had the dealer install a switch so we could shut the 12VDC refrigerator off. Our version of the 282 did not have the intrgrated push button feature.

It will come back on every time you cycle power to it. For example, If you turn off the fridge, then turn off the main battery disconnect, the fridge will come back on the next time you turn on the DC power.

Also true. Each time you turn battery power back on power is restored to fridge. Must press and hold button for 10 seconds each time (power is restored.)
I too would love to install an external switch as someone else noted they had a dealer install. I'm too cheap to pay a dealer and too lazy to pull my fridge to get to the power cable.

I'll bet the refrigerator has a fuse in the breaker box. Might even be labelled something cryptic like "Refrig."
