Maxxair vent fan failures

Anyone having issues with the Maxxair roof vent fans? I have replaced circuit packs under warranty due to failure. Now one goes into an overvoltage shut down at 13.5 volts. I called Maxxair and got the rudest tech support rep in recent memory. He states that the industry standard for components is 12v +/-10% which puts the limit at 13.2v. He had no understanding of RV battery operation. I turned my charger down to 13.2 so I could run the fans at the expense of my batteries. I now have the best solar charging since I bought this rig new (14.5v) and I can’t run the fans when I need them the most. Any similar experiences or fixes? I miss my Fantastic Fan😢

I have not read/heard of a MaxxFan failure such as you mention.

Have seen some fan blade issues and once a power open motor.

I have three MaxxFans in my current 5th wheel. Two each in my last two 5th wheels.
No issues whatsoever no matter the charging rate.

How about an inline voltage regulator at the fan?

Mine (over the stove) will not shut off. It runs until it blows the fuse. The on and off switches do not work. I also got the rudest tech I have ever had to deal with when trying to talk to MaXX Air. Now I take the fuse out (which is also the fuse to other lights, etc.) until I can get it fixed. Will have to return to RV dealer. Wish there was a way to just disconnect the darn thing. The on/off switch is the problem, no communication with the fan!

Sounds like your control board failed. I think they know there is a known problem and you should get a replacement based on serial number. Mine work fine once I replaced the board. Pull the bottom cover and disconnect the power to it and get the serial number of the fan. Sounds like you talked to the same tech I did. He blamed it on too high a float on the batteries (13.1?!). Better yet, install a Fantastic Fan. Much easier to see the controls and operate.
