Need help with Radio DVD player

I have a Concertone ZX500 radio/dvd player. When I connect the TV via 3mm to VGA cables, I don't get any sound. When I put in a DVD, I get sound but no picture to the TV. There was the coax cable the connected to the back of the unit but broke off when I took our the unit. I took it apart to see where to solder the center wire from the coax but I could not find where it broke off. Does the sound and video go through the coax cable? I'm stumped.

VGA does not carry sound. What was the coax cable connected to; RF, Cable?. Most coax is not easily repaired, it is easier to cut off end and install a new connector.
