Newbie questions

I just bought a 2012 Freedom Express from a dealer and have been getting familiar with it. When i opened up the door to the water heater i noticed that the drain plugs were laying there and there is not an anode rod. Is that the way its supposed to be? Also does anyone know if this TT has a battery disconnect and where it might be located. The dealer didn't go over anything with me except the new weight distribution hitch. I assume its because of the rules during the covid 19 shut down

If you're water heater is an Atwood, it doesn't have an anode rod, just a drain a plug. Suburbans have an anode rod and no drain plug (the anode rod is the plug).

My 2012 Roo had the battery disconnect inside by the converter. My 2016 Mini Lite's is on the tongue under the LP tanks. I don't believe disconnects were as common in 2012 as they are today; very possible that you don't have one.

If you mention the model of your Freedom Express, someone who has one may comment.

How many drain plugs did you see?
What brand is the water heater? Atwood heaters (generally) don’t have anode rods - but only one drain plug. Suburban heaters have an anode rod which acts as a drain plug.

the plastic plug could be for the fresh water tank, or one of the low point drains

Can you tell us what brand it is - like which company’s name is on the tag?

True... so is it a plug or a cap? Can you post a picture?

The only paperwork i have is an Atwood. I think i have all the paperwork from when it was new but i don't see anything about an anode rod in the water heater book.

I had said it was a plastic plug and a steel plug but I was wrong, both are obviously plastic

The Attwood uses a plastic plug, it's usually white in color. No anode, the tank is aluminum.

I don't see any rust around the drain hole in your picture so it is probably aluminum. I would check it with a magnet.

Why is everyone asking so many questions? If you dont see an anode you CAN put one in and if you dont see a battery disconnect anywhere near the battery you CAN put one in.... Simple! [emoji16]
