Non-Smart TV - no program guide

The Insignia TV in our trailer is not a smart TV. So when we scan OTA channels we do not have a program guide on the TV like we did in our previous trailer that had a smart TV!

I know we can use wifi or apps to find channel listings but neither of these always work. And I like online channel guides!

Any suggestions on what else may be available to create an online channel guide for a non-smart TV?

Perhaps something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Mediasonic-Con.../dp/B09VWRBTHG

Thanks in advance!

We get all our TV via the antenna when we camp. Sometimes we have a guide and program description on our non-smart TV. It all depends on what data the TV station is sending with their signal. Most of the time we only get brief program descriptions when we hit the guide or info button on the remote. Sometimes we get no data, it varies from different locations.

Although “smart TV “ is a loosely defined term, the current over-the-air EPG (electronic program guide) is more a function of the ATSC television standard. I have TVs that have EPG (can decode and display the guide from the OTA signal) but are not considered smart.

Nonetheless, I feel your pain. The TV that came in our motorhome built in 2019 is obviously ATSC compatible, but has no EPG nor is it smart.

The device linked in post #1, a standalone tuner, could suffice if the TV has the appropriate input jacks for connection. It would probably mean fumbling with an additional remote at times.

Yup. This explains it perfectly.

The 2019 model Continu.us TV FR installed in our motorhome is incapable of displaying electronic program guides from over the air TV signals. What make, model, and vintage TV is in your RV?

The no cost solution would be to download the TVGuide app to your smart phone and enter your location to get the channel guide.

I wish I could help you but I haven't been allowed to hold a TV remote in years.

Take the high road. It's usually less muddy.
