Norcold Refrigerator Poor Cooling
Hello I have a 2017 Forest River wolf pup with a norcold refrigerator (model number N306RM8). Lately it has lost its ability to cool, I can't get it to cool below 41°f in the refrigerator compartment on either electric or propane setting. The temperature Outdoors is not very warm only in the low 70s. I did add 2 fans a year ago to improve air circulation in the vents and it seemed to help things but now the cooling performance of the refrigerator is poor even at the coldest setting. Is there a list or flow chart of troubleshooting procedures I can try to find the reason for the poor cooling performance? Thanks, Ken

What I have found is you need a control board and/or thermister. See the first link

https://www.justanswer.com/appliance...-110-volt.html
Attached below is the manual and parts list if you need them.

Studying that parts list I could not determine what part or part number is the actual thermistor . What I did find was a metallic probe attached to a cooling fin. The probe is integrated into a thermostat dial as a single unit and controls the temperature for the 110v side of the fridge. however the fridge cools poorly on both propane and 110. And what would then control the temperature for the propane side of the fridge ? Of note the tubing in the rear of the fridge box is warm/hot . Any additional inside or help would be much appreciated .Thanks, Ken

The only thing I see about the 306 is in the Error Codes, about half way down in this link, https://www.arprv.com/norcold-thermi...roubleshooting
N306 Note 1: Capillary Tube Type Sensor
Which tells me the thermistor is built onto the thermostat. Part# 636495 on page# 7 of the parts list.

Agreed but looking at the dials in the image I included ...LP and electric both have separate temperature controls. Yet the probe is only part of the thermostat for the 110 temperature control. Unless LP is just a manual setting with no real thermostatic input? Thanks, Ken .

True. The owners manual explains this on the top of page# 5. LP setting is 'Always On' once it's lit. Temperature settings are LO, MED and HI depending on where the valve knob is set. The gas control valve controls the temperature setting, it's up to your judgement where it needs to be set.

Thank you that is good information to know. Still wondering why it will only cool down to 40 degrees in LP as well as on 110v even when the temperature setting dials are set to high? Unless it is due to two separate problems .....one with the lp ...and one with the electric. Thanks, Ken

The only thing I can suggest is make sure the lp control is set to HI, as there is not much between high and off. If you have the side with the fridge facing the sun you may have problems getting it below 40 degrees. The is nothing in the manual covering troubleshooting and I can't find anything on the web for the 306. Whatever I've found covers the larger models.

When both the electric and propane modes share the same problem look to what is common between them both.
1. Control board
2. Thermister
Common wisdom is the thermister only controls the electric cooling, not true.
The control board controls both, with the Thermister telling the board what temp hs been reached.
If you want a tech who will help you diagnose the problems add provide parts, contact Dinosaur Electronics. (dinosaurelectronics.com)
They sell parts for most RV applications, their parts beat OEM parts in reliability and price point.
You will not be sorry. They have been SUPER to me working through my problems in the past. Im NOT affiliated with them at all, Im just that happy with the service and parts I got from them!

Ken, remember, the N306 does not have a control board related to both electric and gas operation. In fact, it doesn't have much of a control board. Though this service manual is for the N300 it may have something you can use in diagnosing and fixing your problem.
