And another sad story of a election not in the know of requirements of a RV. Another sad lesson to learn. Later RJD

Don't feel bad about frying your convertor. First thing I am going to do is rip the one out that I have on my new trailer and install a Progressive Dynamics PD9260 and mount it closer to the batteries.

All he had to do is look at the outlet he put in. Probably says 120V right on it.

Great Electrical Books for Library

Two books that should be in every RV'ers library is:
"Understanding your RV's Shorepower" 120 volt electricity, A Primer
by Dale Lee Sumner
"Managing 12 Volts" How to Upgrade, Operate & Troubleshoot 12 volt Electrical Systems by Harold Barre

Both books are great in learning about your RV electrical "personality". Explains the difference in 50amp, 30amp, 20amp units. Talks about converters, inverters and protection devices.

One thing to learn . . . have a meter and always check things out yourself. At campgrounds, at friends homes . . . even at your own place. I plugged into 220v at a relative who wired up everything correctly . . . not ! ! He had installed 6 30amp RV plugs for all of us showing up for a reunion . . . 4 were incorrect. But I trusted him . . . my meter was 2 feet away from me and I blew my convertor, as well as having to reset the overload breaker on my refrigerator. Happy Camping

My son plugged his RV into a 240. Replaced the converter and everything works fine.

You should be able to get them diagnosed for $50 each at a good electronics shop. May be able to get the microwave diagnosed at a local appliance shop.

Then you can make an informed decision on what to do.

Good luck.

Depending on the size if smaller than 32" it is likely going to be more expensive to repair than replace. Call the shop, tell them they were plugged into 220 and see what they say. Could save you the $50 bench fee.

I plugged a 120v only (most are 110 220 swapable) dumb terminal into a 220 outlet once in a data center. Sure I fried the terminal but I was more concerned with the halon going off in the data center....ooops live and learn.

they are both 32's and cheap Emerson brand but would consider fixing if it was and easy for cheap fix like 30-40$ per TV ... thinking maybe its just some diodes are something

I did not see it mentioned in this thread so I thought I would throw it out as a suggestion. Do you have a battery shutoff switch? I found on my 5th wheel if it is off the converter won't charge the battery.

I found this by chance on one camping trip. Connected to shore power and all was working but I noticed my battery voltage was low. My buddy pointed out my battery shut off switch was off. Flipped the switch and battery started charging. Just a thought..

I doubt that any shop will look at an Emerson 32" for any price... toss them and get a better setup, but watch what inputs you now use and make sure the replacement Tv's have the same inputs.

You don't even have to wait. 32" Tvs are cheap. The TCL brand that came in our new trailer is $169 on Amazon.

It is quite possible that both the TV and the microwave have internal fuses. You would be looking in the area of where the power cord enters the device. Be careful, the capacitors may be holding a charge, but usually bleed off on small appliances. Worth checking.

The microwave will have an internal fuse. Just take the cover off. I blew mine when I plugged it in to 220. I think the fuse is close to the plug. It was a $7 fuse I think. It is the long cylinder type fuse. Click image for larger version

will check on microwave - I know TV's do not as I took one apart and no fuse - gonna try to replace some diodes and if all else fails they sell complete power/digital boards for it for 40-60$ in total -- figure its cheaper than buying 2 new TV's
