Plug and play concertone zx700 replacement
Hi All. Just took possession of a 2011 Rockwood with said frustration system. Has a jumping picture, grainy and horrible banding, periodic un usable DVD etc. Sadly from my searches this has been an issue since it’s inception. I haven’t found any solutions in my searches for fixes. Does any one know of a fix if it exists, or of new replacement units? There were some suggestions in threads from 7 years ago, also by concertone, but the units are obviously outdated, and hard to find with similar bad reviews. Anything new that will be plug and play for the zx700?
Wouldn’t care as much if we didn’t have a young one to keep busy in early hours of the morning. But at times it’s just nice to use the tv for rainy days etc. Or just cooling off from the sun.
Thanks.

I can't recommend a direct replacement unit unfortunately, we were lucky to have our ZX700 replaced by a GT3 at the 1st Frog International rally back in 2012 and it has worked quite well since. That being said Sony used to make a small all in one surround sound amp and dvd player you could make fit in the hole. The other thing you could do (I assume you have the 32" Toshiba TV) is hook an HDMI cable up to the back of the TV and use a laptop or ext DVD/Bluray player to feed the TV and select the aux input on the ZX700 to get sound through the trailer speakers. If you were using a laptop you could the steam Netflix or run Kodi etc as well. The only thing with using an HDMI cable is you will need to get an HDMI right angle adapter for the back of the TV.
Hope this helps a bit.

Yeah, I've looked at the gt 3 but it's hard to spend money on something that is 8 years old already. Any of the units available all have horrible reviews and complaints. Glad yours is working though. Did you have the jumping picture etc. of the zx700? If so, was it remedied by the gt3.0?
We've just spent our first weekend in the trailer though and it might be worth investing money into the entertainment unit. There just don't seem to be any current units worth buying. A stand alone bluray player is an option, thanks.
I just can't believe there is nothing available that is not junk. At least according to reviews and most testimonials here.

My GT3 has a perfect picture. Although we never use the DVD anymore as we always have a laptop or tablet with an HDMI port with us because we generally only watch streaming stuff anymore.

We don't have wifi at our end of the park.
It'd be nice to find something at least current enough to have bluray. But right now anything would be better than the picture we get.
Thanks for the help.

Would this unit help you out? Pyle PLRVST300 RV Wall Mount Bluetooth CD/DVD Player Receiver. Looks like about $150 for one at this website: Onlinecarstereo.com - Wholesale Car Audio/Stereo Deals At Bargain Prices
There will be some wiring to do with the speakers. I cant find a Concertone wiring diagram that would be applicable. Good luck! There isn't a lot out there.

I had to replace a Concertone and found they're apparently no longer manufactured. I searched the web and found an outfit that was selling what seemed to be leftover product. Sorry, I don't recall the website, but if you Google it you may get lucky.

Here is another that is available via Ebay. IRV66 AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3/MP4 DIGITAL5.1/SURROUND SOUND/BLUETOOTH RV RADIO STEREO It says replacement for Concertone and they have a wire harness available when you order to make the installation easier. Might take a while to get it. Crutchfield has them but they are very expensive. Again, good luck!

You may want to look at some Jensen units.

We only use our Concertone for radio and playing music from an SD card. We bought a Blu-Ray player for movies and connect it to the TV via an HDMI cable. The only thing I need now is a sound bar.
I recently bought a portable Bose SoundLink bluetooth speaker to connect to my phone and play mp3s.

That IRV 66 sure looks like an updated ZX700 / GT3.0

Bob Fields was / is a great guy. He sent me the update for our ZX700 for free. I was lucky though that I had a bit of an issue with something else at the Rally and the techs just replaced it no questions asked with a GT3.0

Thanks for everyone's input. I have been looking at the irv66, but again as someone said, it's clearly made by the same company. Which is fine if it worked and didn't have the jumping picture and erratic noise and banding. I have found them other places for much cheaper than crutchfield but it's still hard to pull the trigger not knowing if it will fix any of our problems, especially clearly being the same manufacturer. We've only been out in the new to us trailer once so far so I'm going to do some sleuthing but it sounds like the problems we are having have been there since it rolled off the production line.

I wonder if you can use an in-dash car DVD player? You'd have to make a custom mount and trim piece but it may be an alternative to RV-specific units like Concertone, iRV and Jensen.
