Zero. That is after about 100 nights of camping, 90% in weather hot enough to need A/C.

Well I may be on my fourth unit. After arriving home yesterday I placed the camper/truck in the driveway as I normally do for cleaning up tomorrow (which is today). I set the t'stat on 78 after parking the unit. This morning when I went out it was 74 outside at 9 am and the temp in the camper was 82 with the A/C unit running. I checked to make sure that I had left it in the cool mode, which it was and the air coming from the unit was warm. I turned it off while I cleaned out what needed to come out then had to run an errand. I just turned it back on, set at 78, and will go out in about 30 minutes to run temp tests and amperage draw. There have been way too many posts on this forum about these 15K Dometic units failing as far as cooling. One issue I am not happy with is that my camper was purchased January 2015 and has the two year warranty on the A/C unit. My understanding from my service tech and this forum is that there is NO new or extended warranty with the replacement of this unit with a unit shipped from Dometic. So, IF this unit has failed and needs to be replaced it would be under the original two year warranty starting Jan. 2015 and would have approximately seven months of warranty on the new unit. Hopefully I missed something and the current unit will still work. We were camping for four full days with the daytime high temp in the low 90's each day. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the unit worked fine although it ran all day long. I did notice Sunday that the interior temp was a bit warm and checked the A/C setting and the inside temp from another thermometer. The A/C was set on 73 and the inside temp was 76 all day Sunday. It did cool down Sunday evening and actually started cycling about 10 pm Sunday evening. More to follow, , , ,

When my last unit was installed, I filled out the warranty card for that unit and sent it in. I received something back from dometic acknowledging it. So I assume the two year clock started over.

Well it's official, another Dometic 15K has bit the dust. This unit was installed March of 2016, not quite four (4) months ago. Using a good infra-red thermometer I checked the outside temp last evening at 7 p.m. @ 88*. The unit was set on 80* and running but blowing 78* air out. I checked again at 10 p.m. with the outside ambient air at 84* and the unit was blowing out 78* air. It did sound as if the compressor was running. This morning at 8 a.m. with the ambient air at 77* the unit was still running blowing 78* air out. I called the local Dometic authorized service guy and talked to him. He told me since replacing my unit in March he has done at least eight (8) to ten (10) units more. He also informed me that Dometic has informed him that it may take as long as two (2) weeks to get a replacement unit as they are exchanging them under warranty about as fast as they can get them in. Something is wrong here and Dometic needs to stand up and admit they have a problem.

it's obvious they had more then one bad batch of units . guess when they try to save a buck and have them made in Mexico we end up with a low quality product at a high price . they should don't pass along the savings from the cheap Mexican labor and cheap Mexican parts

In a letter to Dometic factory authorized service techs Dometic has admitted that the evaporator coil on the 15K units were made in China

Zero replacements or repairs.

Our Dometic 15,000 BTU/hr A/C heat pump hasn't missed a beat for over 5 years and over 450 nights camping, plus many days and nights in the driveway while getting ready for trips, cleaning after trips, or doing maintenance. We have run it in weather from freezing rain to 104 F in full sun in the desert.

"Ramblerguy": I'm glad that you have had no problems from your Dometic unit. But, being as it is at least five years old that would put that particular unit outside the time frame of the Dometic 15K's problem(s). My understanding is that the affected units were manufactured sometime late 2014. Dometic has not, to my knowledge, put out any printed info on this problem nor have they responded to my multiple e-mails as to this problem.

My 2014 Çedar Creek ckts 15,000 AC is dead. It acted up (quit working) in mid July while at the beach. When I got it home it started cooling again. Last month it stopped cooling again. Service technician said there was no refrigerant in the unit. New unit enroute. Thank goodness for aftermarket extended warranty.

Bad start capacitors would be a different issue then the issues they have had the the refrigerant leaking out . just a capacitor can be replaced without replacing the whole upper unit
