Poor DVD Video Quality

The Genesis DVD video quality is pretty bad. Is it just my DVD player or do other see this also. Is there a fix? I tried new video cable but that didn't help. The picture is very pale and lack color and contrast. The Furion TV does a fair job off the antenna so it's not the TV. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

AV, no other choice with the Genesis .yellow, red, white. The TV has a choice of AV, HDMI, Component and maybe S-Video but AV seems to be the only thing that I get a picture with?

If it's a Genesis 3.0, there should be a HDMI cable from Genesis to TV. TV should be set to HDMI input. If that doesn't work Genesis has a video adjustment, try adjusting that. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll look again but I didn't see HDMI. I didn't know it had a video adjustment either, thanks.

TT - FYI the Sony BDP S3200 "Home" Bluray player runs off of a 12 volt DC power brick. That means you can run it right from your 12 volt battery. It outputs HDMI. Good little player, many available used in the $40 range.

Besides the audio stream through the HDMI connection, it only outputs a digital stream (SPDIF) through a co-ax connection, so no 2 wire analog audio.

I have the Genesis 2.0, the DVD should be better but I can't see what it could be.

Might just be the cable. They can take a lot of stress bouncing down the road so I when I was rewiring mine for my iPod audio in cable, I also upgraded the cable between the TV and the Genesis to a thicker one.

I'll agree the Genesis isn't a high end player, but it should at least provide a decent enough 480 picture.

I tried a different cable. Still poor picture. It's a faded looking picture.

I would say buy the Genesis 3.0 but it is extremely overpriced and very far behind in technology even at half it's cost.

Your very correct there, only option for that unit is RCA connecters. Pretty much the lowest quality picture available. No component and no HDMI. Only option is to switch player or except what you have.

Thanks, I'm not going to put any moe money into the thing. It plays my satellite radio OK. I don't think the 3.0 would fit in the enclosure, anyway.

You could try doing what I did by changing my telephone jack wall plate with one that has HDMI and USB so I could hook up my laptop, which has Blu-Ray. From the jack I connected it directly to my TV and pipe the sound back to the Genesis via the coaxial connection.

I don't know if that is any help to you?

I just bought a basic Sony Blu-Ray player to connect directly to the television. Not very expensive. It really only gets used when its pouring rain outside anyway. I am thinking about eventually adding a sound bar though because the factory supplied speakers aren't great.
