"Popping sound coming from home theater speakers

On our last trip out in the evening we would watch a DVD each night. During the movie we would hear a LOUD "pop" come out of the ceiling mounted speakers of the RV. This "Pop" would come at irregular irregular intervals. Sometime a few "pops" every 5 seconds, and then one every 20 seconds or so. Random, and annoying. Also it happened while playing various DVDs. I ran a DVD cleaner thru it, but no improvement.
I've checked all the wires running to the speakers. I checked all the connections on the back of the DVD / Home theater unit, (RCA model RTD317W). I then disconnected each speaker from the unit as I played a DVD. The "popping noise moved around as the speakers were disconnected. Therefore I believe it is the unit itself that has gone bad. Video is fine, just this annoying LOUD "POP"!
Should I just replace the unit?? Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

I had a similar situation. Be sure that you do not have another source sending sound to the speakers. For me it was the gps unit still being on.

I appreciate the feedback. However, I was able to isolate the issue as a bad capacitor in the home theater unit. Swapped it out, (the complete unit), and everything is working great!!
