Progressive EMS Hardwire 30 amp

We had a Progressive EMS Hardwire 30 amp in our 2017 200mble FR Surveyor and it was working fine. We removed the unit, sold the TT and bought a 2019 267rbss FR Surveyor and DH installed the same EMS and there was no power in the unit.

We also had a NEW backup EMS hardwire that he hooked up and again no power. He removed the EMS, put the wire back to the converter and power was restored.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of reset buttons on these, are they not compatible with our newer unit...ANY Thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks!!

Was it wired correctly? It has a 120 sec delay too. Did you wait that long? Was it doing its job, meaning prevent a problem with tryout shore power.

Get one of these and check your 120v wiring at an outlet in the trailer. You may have a swapped hot and neutral which would make the Progressive unit block power as it's not wired right (the trailer, not your DH's work). If one of the wires into the trailer is wired wrong, the EMS units are doing what they are supposed to do and blocking the power to protect the trailer. Also were there any error codes?

They are like $5 at HD or Lowes.

If the LED's indicate one of the wires is swapped, the first place to look is near where your shore power cord comes into the trailer. There will be a metal junction box where the shore power cord is joined to a orange colored 120v 10 gauge residential type wire. All the connections should be to the same color wire, ie, bare copper to bare copper, white to white, and black to black in that box. If you have one of the detachable shore power cords, the outlet on the side of the trailer is the next place to check to see if the wire is reversed in that location. If that is it, both are easy fixes. Just move the wires to the right locations and reinstall EMS.

I would plug in the tester into several AC outlets on the trailer to try and eliminate the possibility that the individual outlet is wired wrong. If you get the same indication from any outlet you try, you found the problem. It's the trailer, not the EMS.

Does your EMS have the external display? Does it turn on? If so, does it display an error?

The factory default is only 15 seconds. Have to remove the jumper to select the higher 136 second time.

Thanks very much, we'll get one and try it today!! If that doesn't work, he'll call Progressive.

If that's the case, either defective unit or power wasn't even coming in. I would open the lid and test with a multi-meter.

where was it plugged into... a source which was not reversed polarity wise?
I forgot about the 120 second delay with or new trailer and that threw me off a bit.
unplugged and reconnected 4 times and almost quit and then heard the click.

this tells you what to tell the technicians when you call and things to check before the call is made.
hope it helps.

What caused the problem? If the collective knows what happened, we can better help the next person who runs into this.

I had just written this really long answer to your question and by the time I was ready to send it, my login timed out.

So let's just say user error, I think that would make DH feel better anyway!!

Glad it's working now. That was the goal and bruised egos will heal. Not like we all have not had a "Doh!!!!" moment or two now and then.
