Propane portable generator, which one?

Our new Riverstone did not come with a generator package. We're searching for a solution using portable generator(s) that will store in the front generator bay and that can be easily removed for use. Any recommendations?

Had the onan put in mine at dealer which was extra! The area was already preped for it, mine is a 2017 riverstone 39 FL I’m sure sure your dealer could put one in, just asking if you are going to move in and out to use, why would you want a propane? I would think gas would be less headache since you will have to have another propane tank.

sounds like it'd have to be a much smaller unit in order to be 'portable', with the 'lifting' into the bay required. Two Honda EU2000i / EU2000iC, or similar units are very portable, and can be tied together to provide more than 30amp output, with a 30amp plug outlet on the second unit. Honda even now has a 'super quiet' model EU2200i.

These are quiet, inverter models(run speed is proportional to amperage output), light and portable, and fuel economical.

anything approaching 60 to 100amps, though, as your coach is designed for, will be large and very heavy, and certainly not 'portable'... at least not in the terms of moving it very often, or by a single person, even.

A permanently installed Onan RV 'quiet' generator is your really best option for your size and amperage coach... you might find that 'portability' is lost when you don't have the amps to really 'enjoy' the use of the coach when the generator(s) is running. Onan's are relatively quiet, as you probably already know, and since the door is shut, your neighbors will appreciate it too.

I totally agree! It is the only way to go! I am happy that I got the onan don’t have to worry about moving or hooking up! Just hit the button and relax, if you plan on traveling it is a must! I will never be with out a generator to keep me charged up and going! You never know what time you will need!

Thank you all. Unfortunately our coach is not gen prep'd and yes for an extra 10k a generator can be installed. Our intent is to stay primarily in campgrounds with full hook-ups. We just want to be able to make coffee and watch TV when staying at our in-laws for the weekend.

A heavy 100' 15amp cord (I have a 10ga) and you're usually within shot of an outlet that will run TV/fridge/coffee maker etc. a 3500watt will generally run an AC and a couple appliances (lights/tv). You could keep it in bed of truck to minimize loading/unloading.

It appears that either a single or ganged Honda or Yamaha 2000W unit(s) would work with the fuel supply connected to the propane BBQ stub out near the passenger side tank. Light enough to lift in and out of the forward compartment, quiet enough for the campground, no concerns about carrying gasoline and no gas odor. Thanks all.

I believe you have to purchase the conversion kit(s) as I don't recall any Honda 2000's being factory propane ready.

I am happy with my:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DuroMax-XP5...8AAOSw8UZaAgFG

Runs on gas or propane.. 120V - 240V. and free shipping.

Don't use for my RV (home use only).. I have a solar panel.. runs real quiet and doesn't use any fuel..

I do not believe either of those 2K models has propane capability except perhaps as an aftermarket add-on. Running on propane would reduce your gensets output slightly if that is a concern. I am just about ready to purchase a Honda 2200i just for those off times I have no pedestal available. I don’t like the idea of carrying a gas container but there are some good non-metallics in 2-3 gallon sizes that would give me plenty of run time.

Really like my Champion 2000 watt. Quiet as a Honda, great reviews, and 2 for the price of 1 Honda will power my AC.

Honda 2000 with a Propane & Nat. Gas Kits for Honda Generators

Installs inside the unit and is already ready to go

Than get a micro air AC module to reduce you AC startup surge and that is all you need.

I little more $$ but worth it.

Better get a couple of 30# cylinders for anything (generator) propane. I believe propane does not have the energy automotive gas has. My usual propane trip from my camp site is 50-70 miles. Automotive fuel is about 14.

My gas/propane generator actually runs 10 hours on gasoline (4 gallons)
and runs 14 hours (5 gallons) on propane. Not much difference..
