Question on Surge Protector

I mave a Southwire Surge Guard Model 34930 (for a 30 Amp Circuit) I plugged it into my generator (Westinghouse Model Wgen3600v) and got a message "Open Ground." I assume that means it has to be grounded. There is a ground button on the generator. How do I ground it? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards

Try the search function at the upper right there are numerous articles about generators and floating natural or open ground. Myself I don't use my surge protector when operating on my generators.

This blog post from Mike Sokol explains what is going on and what you need to do. Mike is an electrical engineer and has been posting info on RVs and Electricity for a while. He did a couple of seminar sessions at the FR International rally last week.

Check out one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It should solve the open ground issue.

Read this post. It taught me a lot, and the post above from Sailor SAM.

YouTube a Ground Neutral Plug. It will show how to make one with what you’ve probably got in your junk drawer or tool box
