Questions about dual zone Dometic thermostat
My first trailer with dual A/C and a dual-zone thermostat. Found the manual online, and not very "informative". One of those "tells you everything, but not what you really need to know" kind of things.
Anyway, last shakedown trip out, I was trying to figure out the thermostat. Zone 1 runs furnace and A/C, zone 2 (bedroom) runs only A/C. Both A/Cs have a "dump valve panel" that slides so you can either dump air right through that portion directly down from the A/C, or close it to run air into the ductwork.
I could NOT get the thing to even start to work properly, and found in the manual that you can reset the thermostat anytime the power is lost. I don't know if that just means battery power, shore power, ??? Anyway - I did a reset, and it started behaving a bit better.
Got things situated, and got the A/C running on zone 1, but for the life of me, could NEVER get the A/C running on zone 2 (bedroom). There is a small amount of air coming out of the ducts in the bedroom when the living room A/C is running, but not a whole lot. I played with it for a few hours, changing things, etc. Doing a couple of resets.
Anyway, late at night, I FINALLY got the bedroom A/C to kick on. Changed thermostat settings so the zone 2 temp was lower (4-5 degrees) than zone 1. Kicked on and ran fine. At least I found out it works.
So the questions:
1. I'm assuming that a reset is necessary anytime shore/battery power is lost? Or just shore, or just battery?
2. Does this thermostat not run both A/Cs at once? I'm not sure if it's a power thing to prevent pulling too much current at once to run both units, or if its a badly placed temp sensor, so when one unit is running, the thermostat is fooled into thinking its cooling the other zone/area with cool air running in the ductwork.
Any answers?
