Radio

Had to replace our Jensen 1500 radio that is mounted outside with TV . It stopped working completely after one year. Bought another one thinking easy to just go back with same model, used it a couple of times and now it turns on but no sound. Speakers are good and connections tight, Tv uses same speakers. Any suggestion on a better radio

Watching this thread too.
Our Jensen just crapped out two days ago. Only 3 years old.
At first, thought it picked up some kind of interference from the ceiling fan.
First time we had the ceiling fan on and went to turn on the Jensen and it just made a fast "bwirp, bwirp, bwirp, bwirp" noise. It seemed like it was in time with the revolutions of the ceiling fan.
But, turned off the ceiling fan and the noise is still there. Won't go away no matter "mode" the Jensen is switched to.

Sometimes LED lights will create interference. Unfortunately, I don't know of a replacement radio. Hopefully someone else will know of one.

Not the LED's. The whole camper is all LED's and they never caused an issue.

Yes. The LEDs. Had a friend who had replaced all the lightbulbs with LEDs. Then he started having interference in his television. Drove him crazy til he figured it out. He replaced them with LEDs guaranteed not to cause interference. Your rig probably has the noninterference LEDs, but it might be something to check to eliminate that as a cause of your "bwirp". Could it be your converter fan?

Haven't changed any lights. Same lights installed on the Cardinal assembly line.
No LED problems for the past year.

Found the owners manual on line and saw there was a re-set button on the very lower left corner.
Gave it a try and it worked!

Any radio head unit will work as a replacement. There are better alternatives out there designed for automobiles that'll work well in this application and be a big improvement. They'll not only work reliably, but will have more features, sound better, and be less expensive than the Jensen radio.

Only downside to replacing with an auto head unit is they won't include zone functions that the RV head units will provide. You'll only get sound on the speakers inside the coach, or the outside of the coach, or both, depending how you decide to wire them up.

I opted to replace the garbage Driven multi-media head unit in my 37FLH with a Furrion Ethos 260W 3-Zone Entertainment System over a standard automobile head unit because of the speaker zones. It wasn't the cheapest option out there, but it works reliably and sounds so much better than the junk the factory installed.
