Radio/Antenna

I bought a 2nd hand 21' Forest River travel trailer with a missing radio and antenna. The wiring is all in place. I understand I can use a car type 12v radio, but am confused about the antenna. Here's a couple of pics of what I believe to be where an antenna use to be. Im having visualizing what an antenna would look like connected here, what type of antenna to get and how to connect it.
Any suggestions?

What you're looking at appears to be the base for a universal AM/FM adjustable angle antenna. The "whip" part of the antenna mates to that base and is tightened with a screw. See the photo below; couldn't find a better image, but it shows the general principle.

Chances are if you can locate one of those antennas, you may be able to use the existing base (after giving it a good cleaning) and just add the whip part from the new one. That way you won't need to fish new cable and seal the base.
