Radio Replacement

We have a 2015 Coachmen Clipper 17BH with a factory Jensen radio. The volume knob does not work correctly and I would like to replace the radio with something better. Does anyone have any info on replacing these units? Install kits or wiring harness adapters? I talked to Crutchfield but they weren't much help.

Single Din, din and a half, or double din. Thats all you really need to know. Once you determine which size you have, pick what you like in your price range. Wiring is straight foreword, any good auto stereo shop should be able to wire it up for you for a reasonable price.

If you have the Jensen with the DVD player built into it and you want a direct replacement, your choices are pretty limited. If you're willing to go with just a stereo or have a separate DVD player for movie watching then the options are almost unlimited. As donniedu said, the wiring part is pretty straight forward.

I have a 2016 Clipper 17BH as well and do not like the the Jensen JCD2010. I will be replacing it unless anyone knows how to shut off or dim the ridiculously bright background lights that are always on 24 hours a day. Did you ever find a replacement? If so please post the model and wiring needed. Thanks

I switched mine with an inexpensive Kenwood. I hated the brightness and color of the light on the Jensen and wanted Bluetooth. It was super easy. Never done a car stereo install in my life, just copied where the wires were on the old one.Click image for larger version

Awesome! Do you know what the model number on the Kenwood was? Did you have to buy a wiring kit of some sort or did the Kenwood come with what you needed?

Radio Replacement

Here it is...I needed nothing . If I recall correctly, it did come with some wiring but I simply pulled the wires out of the old and put them in the new. One by one, so I didn't lose track.

Awesome thanks again. And when you turn it off the display doesn't stay on like the Jensen did right? Your outside speakers still work too?

Completely dark . And when it's on, you can select the color instead of ugly orange! No problem with the outside speakers either.

Sorry to bother you again. I finally got around to pulling the old stereo. I got the faceplate off, but what type of tool did you use to pop the locking tabs on either side of the stereo to get it to pop out of the metal case around it?

Thanks

Did u get a "key" with your radio manuals? It is a flat tool used to release the radio from the mount.

Google: DIN radio removal key

I didn't buy the new one yet. I wanted to get the old one out first just to take a look at it. So your removal key came with the new stereo you brought?

I did already Google the removal key but there were a lot of options and some looked brand or vehicle specific.

Did you get one with the current radio? It should be with the manual.

The current radio came with the camper already installed so I don't remember seeing a removal key with the paperwork.

This is the little bag of stuff stapled to my Jensen manual. The key is just a flat piece of metal.Click image for larger version

Thanks for the pic. I checked and all I got was the manual. Oh well. At least I have a visual on the size and shape of the tool.

So I got all excited because my wife's meat skewers we're the perfect size to get the locks to release. But the radio would not come out. I ended up having to take the whole inside of the cabinet out to find the radio was bolted to a metal strap. For now I just unplugged the radio so it won't drain my battery on our two weeks of dry camping.
