Replace Dometic with a Coleman A/C 15,000 BTU

It is now officially camper repair season.

I have had it with Dometic and am looking at converting my 3 year old, no cooling, 15K Dometic Brisk Air to a Coleman unit. Has anybody done this? I see a conversion kit online but the RV parts places seem to be unfamiliar with it. I do have a ducted system with a single zone Dometic thermostat that also controls my furnace.

If you have done this were you happy with the results? From what I have read the Coleman is a better unit, is that correct?

Coleman part number 9330-5221 is the kit needed to convert the system along with a CT thermostat which my Dometic has. Now to research which Coleman I want.

The rain finally quit, son is home on spring break which made it a perfect day to get rid of the crappy 15K Dometic A/C and replace it with a new Coleman 15K I bought a month ago. There is a conversion kit to use the same thermostat and controller. Of course getting it on and off the roof is the tricky part, the Coleman is bigger and heavier. The Coleman seems to be quieter and has more output. The hardest part was lining up the outside Dometic vent cover to the new Coleman mount.

Coleman has as many issues with there units as dometic does . lots of broken fans on the colemans . up grade may not be so much of an up grade . though the brisk air has had issues other dometic not so much

My dealer recommended it and after researching the Coleman I decided it was a better substitute. So far in 3 years I have had 2 Dometics fail, one barely got covered under warranty, the one I just replaced was not.

Just saying coleman is not trouble free either . have my dometic through 4 years of florida winters which for me is hot no issues . now as far as dealer recommendations i would never trust one but that's just me
