Replacing Recessed LED Fixtures

There are a ton of threads about the bad LED lights of the 4.5” and 3” variety, about FR replacing them if they are under warranty, and how the entire fixture has to be purchased to replace. I have two questions. Has anyone replaced the OEM lighting with the Falcon brand? If so, how do they compare as far as figment, brightness and color? Secondly, can anyone suggest a replacement fixture with removable bulbs? I’d prefer to simply replace bulbs in the future rather than remove the entire fixture each time.

After the plethora of replies I figured I’d close this thread out. I ended up purchasing the aftermarket lights from Amazon for $11 each. They have two less LED chips, no holes drilled on the outside edges, and smaller gauge wires. I am on the road so I used my dremmel to drill the three small holes. My only real complaint with both the factory lights and the replacement lights is the amount of tension on the springs. We are talking mouse trap strength. If you slip while installing and smack your finger with one of those things, whooee, trust me. It’s also ridiculously irritating Forest River didn’t install a recessed light fixture in the hole, so those springs dig right into the styrofoam. I attempted to install a bendable piece of ABS plastic around the hole to protect the styrofoam insulation but I couldn’t find anything thick enough around the town I was in. I ended up just cutting the springs off. I could use some ideas if anyone has a more permanent solution. Anyway, lights look great.

Interesting. The ones on my Forester are surface mount but look almost identical installed.
So far the one with a push button that was used the most was replaced under warranty. The button switch on the replacement works so much easier than the original. I expect the others will fail in time.
Another one without a built-in switch has begun to flicker. It is one of 3 in the bathroom so I need an exact replacement to match for OCD reasons.
So much for them lasting "forever".

Yeah my bathroom lights were the first to go. I went with factory replacements for those as I wasn’t aware of any aftermarket brands at that time. The originals only run about $5 more than the off brand lights but at the rate they are failing, saving $5 per light adds up. The exposed styrofoam is what really bothers me. It’s ugly, it’s messy, and each time I change a light more foam is chipped away. Now I’m thinking about inserting a PVC pipe into the hole but it might require some cutting. Another option is to replace the lights with household recessed lighting but I’m not ready to take it that far.

Just remember.....household recessed lighting is most likely 120 volt versus the 12 volt lighting for most of the lights in any RV.

AC vs DC lighting will get you every time.
