Roof AC unit different for ducted/ non ducted?

Is there a difference in the roof unit between ducted units and non ducted? Is the difference in the ceiling assembly, and all roof units are the same?
The reason I ask is that I have a spare 15k roof top unit from my rig (warranty and they left me the old unit) that only needs a refrigerant leak repaired. A friend has a cargo trailer he wants to put it on after I fix it. The difference is, my TT is ducted whereas his cargo trailer is not.

There is no difference for the base A/C. There is a separate controller and vent assembly, the A/C for a ducted system uses a wall thermostat and the non ducted has a built in fan controller.

Thanks for the reply. So the ceiling assembly is the only difference and he would have to purchase the non ducted one?

Correct. The non ducted kit should have everything you need, including the mounting bolts.

Actually it depends on the unit. Most Dometic brisk-air and Coleman Mach units the only difference is the ceiling assembly, but on Atwood units for example, a ducted unit won't work with the non-ducted ceiling unit and vise-versa.

Ah. It is a Dometic Duotherm. Maybe I should call them and ask. Hmm....

That unit should work as either, just get the model number off the label inside the unit and order the non-ducted ceiling assembly to match.

Just be forewarned that in year models between 2014 and 2017 they had mfg issues that caused corrosion problems with the coils, so fixing them likely won't do you any good as you'll be chasing leaks from now on.
