Searching for a replacement AC capacitor
I have an old Carrier RV AC on my pop-up with a discontinued SAMWHA capacitor. (picture attached.) I can't seem to find a replacement capacitor on-line anywhere, either from the US SAMWHA distributor, several on-line electronics supply stores, Carrier itself (they are out of the RV business it seems), a major RV dealership network, and a local HVAC electrician with links to the local distributors. Any ideas on how to find a compatible capacitor (12/40 microFarads; 370VAC?

you can substitute any cap. with at least that voltage and capacitance and larger. It won't hurt it to have a bit more. Limiting factor is where it's mounted but you can move it easily enough.

Grainger is a great source for items like this. A quick online search on their website will also tell you if a local branch near you has the item in stock.

Potential Solution found
Spoke with Grainger - as no one manufactures a single dual run with the correct farad ratings, they suggested using two - each with the correct microfarads - and splicing the commons together, which makes a lot of sense. I'll give it a try - the mounting should not bee too difficult as there is a lot of room in the compartment

This is a very common solution as the "one piece" units are required for applications where there is no extra space.

Thanks!
Thanks to all - I will try BogieBoy's direct replacement - I am assessing the slight difference in the fan motor's farad rating will not hinder operation. I wish I would have posted a few days ago - it would have saved me a lot of time and effort!

Guess you're right. He would have to use his finger to get the fan running. Incidentally, 370 volt rating is just the minimum; anything higher voltage rating is OK.
