Something running when hook to power.

We have a 2021 Rockwood 8337RL travel trailer and we are getting it ready for the season. I plugged it into outside power and something is running. It’s making a humming noise. The refer is off, the water pump is off, the heater is off, everything we can think of is turned off. It seems, though we aren’t sure, to be coming from the same area the water filter and fuses are located in the bathroom. I know this is very vague but any suggestions would be appreciated. We haven’t finished unwinterizing it yet and are concerned something that shouldn’t be is running.
Thanks!

The converter fan is temp controlled and will come on and vary speed based on the temp of the converter. If the battery is low or there is a heavy 12VDC load, the fan will come on and eventually go off when the load decreases.

The converter fan can be confirmed by flipping off the breaker for the converter, I believe.

Most converters are behind or below fuse panel. Is that where sound is coming from?
I do agree with others it is most likely the converter.

Ditto...your converter is trying to charge your somewhat depleted battery and the fan is what you are hearing. Put a voltmeter on your battery terminals...and if you see 13.2V or greater your converter is running.

Could be your "Transfer Switch" humming or buzzing...not unusual.

Does a '2021 Rockwood 8337RL travel trailer' have a transfer switch?

Yes. That is where the sound is coming from. Can I test it by hooking my battery charger to the batteries and see if they show 13.2V or greater? We think the batteries were dead when the people moved the trailer to this new place. Will the converter shut off after it charges the batteries or am I still misunderstanding this.

it was mentioned above. to confirm that it is the converter fan go to your breaker panel and turn the breaker for the converter off. does the noise stop?

the fan is automatically controlled by the converter. there is no manual on/off switch for it. if the converter is running hot the fan will come on to cool it off. once the converter gets down to a lower temperature the fan will turn off.

the converter will run hot when it is trying to push max amps into a discharged battery. once the battery gets recharged the converter will not have to push as many amps and it will run cooler and the fan will go off. just get the batteries fully recharged and the issue will go away.

No generator on your model?...then no Automatic Transfer Switch. Sorry for the confusion. Goes to show, don't assume, eh?

As the OP stated, they have a Rockwood travel trailer. No travel trailers have built-in generators nor transfer switches. Only Toyhauler travel trailers have such things.

It should shut off after charging the battery.
If you thing the batteries were dead, connect a battery charger to them when you're not plugged into shore power and see if they charge. You'll probably need new batteries. An auto parts store can test them to see if they'll recharge and hold a charge.

Regardless of where you plan to camp, do not tow your trailer with dead batteries. They're the source of power for emergency braking if the trailer becomes disconnected while towing.

If the battery was completely dead when you got it, I would replace the battery. Very few lead acid batteries will recover after being completely discharge.

The battery should be charging higher than 13.2 volts unless it is fully charged. A good, fully charged 12 volt battery should read around 13 volts at rest with no load. Depending on your converter, charge voltage may be as high as 14.5 volts and decrease as the battery comes up to full charge if you have a multistage converter.

I would guess it’s the converter fan and/or inverter fan.

Looks like you have a 1000 watt inverter, would be in a closet or storage compartment.
As others have said your converter fan would run as needed.

I had a 2005 and 2009 Trail-Bay TT with onboard generators.

Just to clarify for OP, a lead acid battery is considered fully charged at 12.6V or higher, reading after removed from charging for 30-60 minutes. Ours have never read 13V or higher except while charging. After charging gets out of the 14V+ charging stage, the voltage will read 13+ while still charging at a lower rate. Off charging, see attached charge.
