I think we are talking about 2 different vent doors,,, the one I call the old style has the 2 little holders that can be turned,,, to allow the door to be blown open,,, the fan in our old Flagstaff TT was so weak that I had to use a close pin to hold it open when in uses !!!
If I left it pined open,,, it became a Misquote door in the North woods !!!

I think we have a different type of vent cover. I was just looking at ours and the cover is also covered by another cover so I doubt it will blow off or break because it can only move about 3/4". Why was I looking at it? After this thread, I remembered to close it when we left this morning. Got here, the DW is cooking and it's getting smoky and smelly... run out side an open it. I am going to just leave it open from now on.

After you replace your vent flap,,,
you may want to keep it locked when not in use !!!
Sorry could not resist !!!

This door has a couple of little ears that hold it shut but you can turn them so the door is free to open.

Should this door be fastened shut when traveling?

Thanks
Open while camping, closed while traveling. It's on my setup/breakdown checklist.

x2!

Lost one on my '08 Roo. Had to replace it. The 3010DS has the newer type, but I still open it when I set up and press it closed when tearing down. I don't use the stove that much, so I'm not quite sure why I even unlatch it when I set up.

That's the style on our TT. That sucker was glued shut when we first got our TT. Seriously. Had to use a knife to cut through the glue, then some acetone to clean it up before the latches would work properly. Don't know who the factory thought it was a good idea to glue it shut, but damn them! It looked like hot glue.

Just be aware the plastic pins on which it swivels are very small and fragile. They can break very easily.

I learn something every day. Had the TT for over a year and never knew this flap snapped shut. We have yet to actually use stove inside for frying or anything. Will check if I still have it or if it's closed

I am guessing it may have been caulk or maybe even paint ???
Assemble line workers do not have time to clean things up !!!

Well I checked mine today and sure enough it has tabs and can be opened. There is a cover over it as well. Curious to know how many newbs or even seasoned campers have no clue about this apparatus. It wasn't covered in my PDI for sure.

Now I know

Vent flap repair

Here is a post from the archives.... I had 2 vent doors break the tiny tabs
and fall off. I lost one and found the other hanging by a thread and made
this little mod.
REAL brass hinges so no more broken/lost flapper door.
This is for an early Rockwood and your vent may be different but if it looks
like this one- it's a one beer job!
