Suburban furnace excessive clicking on differential d1
We have the standard FR furnace for our Forester 2401R (Suburban SF-30E) and a Dometic Single-Zone LCD thermostat. We have always been running in the default two degree differential mode (d2). But with living in it for over two weeks now in some quite cold weather (20s to 40s when it isn't warmer), it has been annoying to have it get so hot followed by so cold. So I tried - twice - switching it to d1 mode. It does seem to work, however before the furnace comes on there is quite a lot of disturbing clicking inside the furnace. It sounds roughly like:
click-clunk
click-clunk
click-clunk
click-clunk click-clunk click-clunk click-clunk
click-clunk
Then the fan comes on followed by the heat. It's especially annoying and concerning in the dark of night. In d2 mode there are maybe one or two clicks and on it goes. Has anyone else seen this or do you know why this happens only in d1?
Thanks!
