Suburban oven won't light
Ok folks... My 2015 FR. Vibe has a suburban gas stove/oven combo. My burners all work fine, the exterior gas grill works great, and the furnace and hot water heater all work fine, but the pilot for the stove just won't take. It will stay lit as long as you are holding in the knob, but as soon as you release it it goes out. Any similar situations or suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
The BadgerCamper.

Mine did the same thing, I have a 2015 EVO. I just kept trying and finally after like 10-15 tries over a 30 minute period it worked. I dont know what the problem was but I have camped 3 times since and it has worked fine since then.

Does the burner light, like if you just turn the stove on and hold the lighter to the burner? I think I did that to see if that worked and then I shut it off and that's when I tried to relight the pilot and it worked if I remember right. I cant rememeber. I may even have done it wrong, this is the first TT I have had with a stove. I believe that is what I did though.

Shadow,
Just bend the thermocouple bracket slightly so that the thermocouple is in the pilot flame. That should take care of it!

Yeah.... I've no clue what that looks like.... not even gonna lie.... Suicide, the burner sort of lit during a few of the pilot attempts, but it would flicker down the length of the tube.

suburban gas oven not lighting
I had the same problem and took it back to the dealer and they replaced the orifice because the hole was to small and would not let enough gas through. works perfect now

No problem, most thermocouples are cylindrical in shape with a small DC wire coming out of them to the burner control. You should be able to easily locate it. Give it a little tweak and you should be good as new. It's possible that you have a defective thermocouple, but doubtful. Juts hold the knob in and light the pilot and you should easily see the thermocouple, if it is not in the flame it will not generate the very love voltage signal back to the the burner control. Take you time and look around, you'll find it.

You can take the thermo cuplour out on the end at pilot light and the small wire should come out when heated with llighter. Also if there is a kink in it tbis wire can't come out
This small bulb is what hhholds the gas valve open.

Funny, mine did the exact same thing this week-end while camping. I lit all (3) stovetop burners and they lit fine, then kept trying the oven. After about 15 times, the pilot finally stayed lit and the oven worked just fine. This was the first time we ever used the oven so I suspect it just took a while for the gas to get to the burner and/or the thermocouple just needed a little "boost". Sometimes a little sandpaper across the thermocouple helps, too. That was my next step.

The flame of the pilot needs to be near the end of the thermocouple. It should only take about 15 seconds if aligned properly.

Oven lighting
Since around 2001 the thermocouple has gotten much harder to light, the reason (or so they say) is there were DOT changes for safety. You have to get the coupler HOT for the pilot to stay lite. SO I use a a long grill lighter and heat the coupler (not get a pilot light ) in doing it that way when the pilot lights it will stay lit.
I hope this helps and the best thing I can tell you on this matter is patience is king.

One could just use the oven for a bread box.....

Used to have that issue all the time with the Atwood oven, seemed like it got some debris in the pilot tube. Used a small tie wrap to rod it out then blew it out with a can of compressed air, like you would use on computers with long tube. Worked for me.
Now have Suburban oven where pilot lights, burner lights but, after a few minutes, burner and pilot go out. Can be relit, but same thing happens again .
Don't want to use as a bread box!

I just light mine for the first time this season and it took the better part of 15 minutes to finally get it to stay lit.
Every year first time it takes awhile. After that usually no problem.

Thanks everyone, I'll have to play with it this weekend. If all else fails, I'll run it up to the dealer.
