Suburban stove glass top replacement

Hello! My friend was trying to be nice and cook me breakfast, she put the pan on top of the glass top and turned the burner on, the glass top shattered 😧
My manual says it’s a Suburban SCNA3 model stove top. I have a 2019 rock wood mini lite 2109s. I can’t seem to find a replacement glass stovetop cover for this online. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!! 🙂

I have a 2104s with the same model stove/oven. Even though I know to open the glass cover before turning on a burner, I still do try to be extra careful with that glass top. You might need to get the part from a dealer, but easy enough to install yourself.

I assume you've already checked the Suburban website? I was just looking and when I researched the parts I assumed the "black" cover meant aluminium painted black, so I kept looking....it appears that the category of B-Black is actually black glass. My wife did the same thing and it blew glass all over and into her face. Pretty awful. I’m thinking about fabricating a stainless one.

That is awful, I hope she was OK. Never occurred to me that could happen until reading it here, makes me think I need to put a warning sticker or something on mine. Normally I do all the cooking, and as I said, I know to lift the glass, but there are lots of opportunities for "untrained" folks who want to be sweet to help cook, or even if you haven't had your first cup of coffee yet, easy to forget to open it and have that happen. This is the first TT with a glass stove top that I've had. I really like the look but definitely considering what can be done to make it safer now. Thank you!

They could make it much safer by ditching the whole "Glass Top" thing. A nice Stainless Steel top would be just fine. IMHO.

If yours is the same model as ours, it appears to have a stock stainless top option on the Suburban website you could probably order, if you prefer not to fabricate one yourself.

I did the exact same thing, and spent the better part of two days trying to find one. Fortunately I found a place in the mid west that had one in stock, PleasureLand RV Center - https://www.pleasurelandrv.com/parts-department. They had it in stock and shipped it the next day. Unfortunately, the part is arriving later today, or I would have let you if everything matched up. What I will do is, post something here if it is NOT the right part.

To make sure that it is the right range, I might suggest pulling the burner cover off to locate the right stove #. It's easily done by lifting the stove grate off and then lifting from both sides, pull straight up on the cover. No screws to undo. Good Luck!

When mine broke, it was the wind blew through the window and slammed it down ad nbroke all over the place. I replaced it with a Camco universal butcher block for the stove. I like it better than the glass cover

Thanks all...... I used a piece of corian counter top to make a cutting board. I was afraid my wife would do it again because we are use to cooking on a flat top stove as well. The glass top for her is something she’s not use to flipping up. Anyway thanks....

I found one on ebay after my son tried to cook with it down. I still find a piece of glass every once and a while and its been 2 years now. In hind sight, i wish i would have left the stickers on the glass when it was new. Maybe that would have prevented the "exploding top"
