I have a dimmer that is a knob. Turn to click on, then turn the knob until the lights are bright. I want to replace it with a toggle switch with a slider for dimming. Should this be an issue?
A switch is easy to install, but you can have both if you want; a dimmer and a switch that bypasses the dimmer. Just wire the new switch across the dimmer wires.
I have just the opposite, a light with a switch, but sometimes it's too bright. But rather than adding a dimmer, I'll just add one of these dimmable LED bar lights:
