Swapping dimmer knob for switch

I have a dimmer that is a knob. Turn to click on, then turn the knob until the lights are bright. I want to replace it with a toggle switch with a slider for dimming. Should this be an issue?

A switch is easy to install, but you can have both if you want; a dimmer and a switch that bypasses the dimmer. Just wire the new switch across the dimmer wires.

I have just the opposite, a light with a switch, but sometimes it's too bright. But rather than adding a dimmer, I'll just add one of these dimmable LED bar lights:

Just make sure it is specifically for 12/24 volts DC and not a standard 110/120 volts AC dimmer:

You'll also need to make sure you have a deep enough space for it. Many RV outlets and switches are specifically for shallow wall spaces.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.
