Tailgater Mount
Where do you place your Dish Tailgater when in use? I have been just setting mine on the ground, but I would like some way of getting it off the ground. I have been looking at;
Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite Antenna Tripod - Winegard TR-1518 - Satellite Antenna Accessories - Camping World
And it's on sale. Anyone else use this or have a better idea?

When we tailgate at the ball games I climb up on top and set it on the roof and leave it for the weekend. No trees and no worries. When camping, I do feel I get a better shot at getting a signal if it's elevated. I've sat it on my truck hood, cab, and in the bed, on a table, and on the ground. I have had most success when it's elevated 3-4'. I've been thinking of getting one of these.

Been using a Carryout for over two years - simple to set up, automatically acquires satellite signal and has been totally reliable

I had the same question about that, somewhere I read that this mount/stand was not made for the Tailgater, but "several" people use it with a Tailgater without problems...
Now what that means, I don't quite know. Does it mean you need to mod it, if so how?

Well, if they sell it at Camping World, the next time I'm in there, I'll take one over to the Dish Tailgater display and see if it fits.

I have been using one for 2 years also, it gets the reception (HD included) no matter what I sit it on (the ground, the truck, top of the trailer, this past weekend I had it sitting on the TT propane tanks) as long as it gets a clear view of the southern sky it works. The only advantage I could see by setting it high up on something is it doesn't get tripped over and no one is gonna stand in front of it blocking the signal.

I put my Tailgater on the roof of the slide out. On my TT the satellite input connection is right next to the slide out so there is only a short amount of coax to deal with.

Just started putting it on the ground under the nose of the 5er, seems to help in rain storms to keep a signal
