Temporary removal of fake fireplace brick

I need to replace my fireplace but the first step is to remove the trim piece that surrounds the unit on the top and sides in order to access the screws. The problem is the fake brick front that protrudes from the wall that prevents sliding the trim vertically. Any ideas how to temporarily remove the brick and then reinstall it?

Any chance you could post a pic? I'm sure you'll get some suggestions then.

Also, you probably only need to move the trim vertically less than an inch to get it off.

I should have included this picture when I initiated this thread. There is only about a 1/16" gap at the top of the fireplace under the brick.
