Went camping today. Temp was in the low 80s during the day but dropped rather quickly at night. Turned on the heater for the first (second) time since I got it from the dealer, and man it stank. Not only was there a burning smell, the smoke alarm went off twice.
It should be pretty much gone after a couple of cycles. I think ours was gone after 15-20 minutes of operation.
The smoke is from oil used during assembly of the heat exchanger.
Yep, your dealer should have advised you about this. You need to run the furnace with every window and door open, to burn off the manufacturing oils BEFORE you go camping.
