Turned off the fridge and forgot to take the ice out

I had a 8lb back of ice in the freezer, I turned off the fridge as the camper is just sitting in the RV parking on the side of my house. The bag melted and the water went somewhere!

Do these fridges have a built in drain? I have the larger fridge with freeze on top model (2 doors)

I’m sure it’s all dried up now but would it have leaked within the electronics or drained out?

Looked at your profile and didnt see your rv listed.
I've got a Dometic RM2652 6 CU ft refrigerator freezer.
2 door, obviously, with freezer on the top.
No drain in the freezer, but there is a drainage collector tray in the refrigerator which has a drain hole to a drain tube running out the back of the refrigerator.

My freezer is water tight. Usually I have to absorb any standing water or droplets with paper towels and allow to air dry.

Not sure what became of your bag of ice. If you left the freezer door open it probably just evaporated and any excess would have overflowed possibly into your refrigerator or onto the floor and evaporated from those places.

Doubtful any freezer water would get into the refrigerator drainage tray. At least on my design. The drainage tray is at the back of the refrigerator.

Yea that’s the same one I have. There appears to be a seam on each side and the back edge is sealed, so water drained within each side of the freezer. There was enough water where it was trapped and it’s been super hot here so maybe it did just dry up

We use frozen water bottles; a bunch of small ones as well as a larger one or two in the freezer while traveling. Usually still frozen when we arrive at our destination and we then transfer food from the cooler to the fridge/freezer. I still don't trust driving with food in the fridge...
The water bottles work great. nothing gets wet, just stays really cold. I just toss them in the garage freezer when we get home from our travels...

We just add bungee straps to keep the fridge and cuboards closed. Works well but I’ll be installing some latching system soon.

Falconer,

Interesting idea.

Wolfpup,

I made the bag of ice mistake once myself but caught it the next day before it all had melted.
