Smile Upgraded to Airxcel Colman Mach

Just and FYI to the forum.... On my Geo Pro 20 FBS I just upgraded the 13.5 BTU Coleman Mach AC unit ceiling unit and controls to the bluetooth system. I also added the heat strip option. As part of this upgrade I also tested the system on a 2200 watt duel fuel inverter generator (Pulsar brand). Everything works, both on propane and gas. No problem with the AC starting or the heat strip warming up. Honestly, I can't understand what is all the noise online about needing a soft start mod to run the AC off these small generators. Works fine for me.

Well, I'm glad your genny and the 13.5 Coleman are a good match!

I think that most of the issues come from folks using a 15K A/C (or, sometimes a 13.5) with a genny that has a running watts rating <1,800. Some folks with these less powerful gennys find that the A/Cs initial start-up load is enough to trip the overload circuitry. In that case, the microprocessor-base soft start products "ramp-up" the initial start-up load in steps, preventing the overload protection from tripping.

An added benefit in doing this "soft" starting is lessening the start-up impact on the A/C hardware which, in time, may extend its life.
